Question about swimming pools

Which hotel has the best swimming pools?

I'm taking my girlfriend on a vacation and she loves the swimming pools. I don't really mind which hotel we stay at. As long as the hotel scene isn't dead or with little kids or elderly vacationers.

Some of the things that I've read online that sounds interesting are things like lazy rivers, wave pools, artificial sand to make it look like beach... etc. Are these really as fun as it's cracked up to be?

And since we're on the subject anyway, how much is it to rent a cabana in general?

If you want to avoid kids, you may want to stay clear of the waterpark type pools (MGM lazy river/Mandalay bay wave pool) and go to an adult-only pool. I've also heard the Bellagio has very few children.

I love cheapovegas website! But I'd also like to hear firsthand from people here.

That's a good point, probably find more kids in those areas. But the thing is we are going late summer around September. I think family vacations are over by then, and don't have to worry too much about kids, since they'd be in school.
One thing I don't like about the "adults-only" type pools is that they are more for just standing around with your drink staring at other single people who may or may not be topless. I just want to kick back with my girl and occasionally go for a swim; energizing up for the night activities and gambling.

I would suggest mandalay... mgm or mirage. They all have nice pools... but they all also have more adult / party pools as well... like bare and wet.

I'm new to the site, but I stayed at the Mirage during July 4th last year and the pool was nice. Good crowd, 30's to 40's age range, and everyone was social.

+ 1 ......If you are trying to save some dough, then you can throw the Flamingo in that list as well.

Bellagio pool played classical music over the loudspeakers the one time I went, so it wasn't really my cup of tea.

Cabana prices are roughly $250-$350 at the regular pools. That gets you use of the cabana for the day, plus some juice, water, soda in the fridge and some light snacks (think fruit and pretzels).

I have been to many pools in vegas.. never once swam there...

I have experienced Mandalay Bay Moorea Beach, Mirage, & Tropicana pools. In order of preference M.B, then Mirage, then Trop. I would not recommend staying at Trop unless looking for a cheap room (really outdated). If your going in the middle of the week kids will not be an issue. Husband & I did the lazy river @ MB and were pleasently surprised to not find kids as an issue.

I can tell you the Wynn 'adult' pool is by far the best when it comes to avoiding the kids and not having too much of that party vibe... but you have to be staying at the hotel to get in-there's no outside admission fee..

But one thing I've read in other posts that M.B. is kinda dead. For the price that they charge, is it worth it? I like to gamble a bit, and the energy on the casino floor is important to me.

which reminds me, how's the pool at MGM?
and sorry to just keep loading on questions, but is it even worth it to get a cabana if we're not planning to stay all day?

i like gambling at MB. it's just that i find it too far from the strip, so I wouldn't stay there again if I could help it.

I found the actual pool at MGM way too crowded. I don't recall seeing any kids there.. I wouldn't go in there to swim a lap..
At the regular MGM pools, you can just find a free deck chair. Although they can be difficult to find to find an open one..

Sounds like MGM would be perfect for what you are looking for. The casino floor at MGM is a younger crowd, definitely an upbeat crowd. MB casino floor reminds me of bingo night at the local retirement community...its always so quiet and bright in that casino.

MB has way more kids at the pool than MGM, although MGM does have a few kids running around since they have the lazy river. If you don't go to WET Republic, then take a right when you enter the MGM pool complex and hang out at the pool on the far right side. They have DJ's spinning there sometimes as well...crowd is younger people drinking and having a good time.

I would agree that the casino vibe at mandalay is kinda lame. And also too far down the strip. I stayed there once because of the deal and room I was given... but i wouldn't again. MGM is your best bet.

Chrisl I can't comment on MGM pool, but I dislike their property so go figure.

Another option to the cabana are day beds (called Opium beds @ Moorea beach, they have misters and make the dessert heat bareable).

I will vouch that MB casino is not a hot spot, though they are trying to market themselfs w/ the Eyecandy area w/ dancers at stripper poles, and then there is the sound bar lounge. You are only a tram away from other casino's. I personally love MB because it has all I need and I don't have to leave property if I don't want.
Also they now have a poolside casino and it may be more active then the regular casino, haven't checked it out yet.

but just to be clear what does MGM have that Mandalay doesn't (pool-wise) and vice versa?
and then let's mix that up with the basic-room quality. Which is better?

I'm thinking MB has wave pool MGM doesn't right? Both seem to have lazy river...
MGM has larger more vibrant casino floor than MB.
Never stayed in either hotels... but MGM seems to have better deals most of the time? Am I wrong?
