Opinions on MGM Grand

Hey everyone! I'm new to the site, although have done some exhaustive search here. It's a great site, and has provided me with some great insight.

Anyway, im planning on making my second trip to Vegas this upcoming September. I have done as much search as i could of (i think) on hotels. The decision came down to book with MGM Grand. Got it for Sept 1 thru Sept 6 (Wednesday-Monday) for three people for 732.00. OR... basically 244 a person for 5 nights.

I thought this was a pretty good deal, considering all the prices i came by. How is the hotel? Its located in a good spot?

Although this is my second time coming (first time was a family paid vacation and in addition to that i actually got married out there!..... BIG MISTAKE, didnt end well) this will be my first time hitting up the clubs and what not. I cant wait!

Ive been checking out all the posts on the good clubs to make sure to go to, and look forward to them, the wait is a killer though.. 4 months is a long time

I'm 50 / 50 on the MGM. I have stayed before and will be staying there again over MDW... because of the deal I got. The rooms are very basic... they could use a face lift... but are fine to just crash / hold your stuff and shower. There are a ton of great food options from high end to a great sandwhich or mcdonald's. Also, bars to grab quick drinks. The pool is great and there's also Wet. The casino is huge... that can be good or bad. I also like the vibe there. Hope that helps... like me, if you got a deal you are happy with, I say go with it. Not my first choice... but it works.

I echo the sentiments of Kimball above......MGM is like old faithful to me....the price is always right, good location, good pool scene, great restaurants, younger crowd.....the rooms could be better, but all in all, its great value for your money IMO

It's my favorite place to stay. Great room rates--young crowd--WET. For the price you can't beat it. Just remember--you are only going to crash there--hopefully drunk so the room doesn't matter. View--not a big deal. I'm in Vegas to have fun--at restaurants,clubs,etc. The room isn't that important. My advice is to go MGM!

I've stayed there 6 times, It's a great value. Yeah the rooms are a bit dated but still nice in size with very comfortable beds. MGM also has one of the best pool areas on the strip. Avoid the West Wing and if you're flying in, use their hotel check-in counter at the airport. It's a major time saver.

I have stayed there 5 times. I liked the west wing. The room was nice. But it was a hell of a walk! check in at the airport and try the $20 trick there see what you get. I have been in the normal rooms, once it was pretty basic another time it was good. They kinda blend together. Anyways, I like that WET is there and there are food options and you get to see the kitties. I dont like that it is far from my fav part of the strip. I will be there for AOD.

Best thing about the place is definitely the casino. Tons of tables, and a good crowd. Rooms are so-so, but if you're getting a good deal you oughta go with it. Having quick access to Wet Republic is nice too.

Thanks for the insight.. i ran the promotion and the thing is i have 3 people staying in the room which made it more expensive than the 492, for me anyway. But.... thanks for the help. Always cool to see people helping out on here... (it came out to be around the same price, well 15 dollars more.. but with the promotion inclusions i will probably switch anyway because i think they more then make up for the 15 dollars, thanks!)

Hey, there is no need to put 3 people down. You will be paying all that extra money for nothing. I put 2 people down all the time and get 2 beds and had 4 people in the room one time. They don't check that stuff. You can just ask them for 3 keys if you want. Thats not a big deal. Even if they only give you 2 keys at check in...you can go down later on and ask for an extra key. They are not going to tell you no. Trust me on this one! My coworker just left vegas last month and stayed at the mgm. I gave them the same promotion and it was 5 of them in the room. The people behind the counter is not that picky when it come to getting extra room keys.

I've had many great experiences with MGM, but they've overall left a semi-bad taste in my mouth.

They fucked up our reservation in their system, and gave me keys and the receipt indicating which room I was reserved. After being in that room for two days I return to men with clipboards going through all of my things and taking an inventory.

Apparently, that room was "empty" in the computer system, even though my invoice and my keys were working just fine. The men with clipboards refused to take my word for it (by word I mean the fucking invoice that was on the desk) and I had to go downstairs and sort the mess out, since management couldn't be bothered to come up to the room and talk to me. The assholes with the clipboards refused to leave our room or stop going through our things until the manager called them.

The manager apologized, after the half an hour it took her to fucking talk to me. I spent the rest of my stay having people letting themselves in my room (since it still said empty room on the security print out as well as the housekeeping). They threw a late checkout and free dinner at me.

The free dinner was okay, except for the fucking bug I found in it.

Overall, I've had some good room rate droppage because of my said issues and been able to pump free drinks and other things out of them.

I love the hotel, but their customer service definitely leads something left to be desired.

WOW... i would have been pissed. Then raised an outragous scene... till i was in a suite.

Hope this really did work out well for ya...we're thinking of doing that for my bachelorette party...there 2 queen beds and we can easily share 2 girls/bed so we're thinking of just booking and saying the occupancy is 2 rather than 4
