Hey, this might sound like a stupid question... are Mastercard credit cards widely accepted in vegas (and the USA).

reason i ask is a friend of mine had trouble with his mastercard in the states. is Visa preferable or does it really make no difference

First up, on this site, there are no stupid questions. I've taken both my Visa & MC and never had a problem using either in Vegas .

Ive had no problems using mastercard, visa, or discover. I would recommend calling your CC companies, and let them know youll be in Vegas. Ive seen countless people on the phone with the CC companies trying to figure out why there cads where denied. High charges at an out of town bar is red flag for a stolen card.
