The characters - Me, my buddy Jason, my wife Christina, Jason's girlfriend Jamie, my buddy from high school Kenny who I only get to see once in awhile since he moved to California.
The pre trip debacle - We were supposed to be at the MGM. Another friend of mine was getting a a skyloft suite. He bailed due to a medical scare about 2 weeks before hand which left us looking for hotel rooms. We settled on the Monte Carlo but 3 days after making the reservation my brother bailed on the trip due to finances. That put us with Kenny in a room alone and he couldn't afford the Monte Carlo alone. So with just days left we booked rooms for $50 a night at the Orleans. Skeptical of the place..it's still Vegas so we took off.
The Trip
The Orleans - Wednesday we arrive at the Orleans to find it is a small city of it's own. It's very clean. The rooms were very large each had it's own couch chair and table. The sports book was great and they even had a ballroom open for the NCAA Tournament. The place has a 13 screen movie theatre, really nice pool area and a huge bowling alley. It even has a TGI Firdays in it. A cab ride to the strip was $12. There was a shuttle until 12:30am for free. Overall I found the Orleans to be an excellent value. Not a great vibe there but for the money I can't complain.
Nightlife
Wednesday - My wife was tired from the travel. Kenny wanted to go out so my wife crashed and we decided to hit some clubs. I had heard about $88 bottles at Rum Jungle. We checked it out but it was dead. So we tried to head up to Mix. It was closed. We walked past a bar at Mandalay called Eyecandy. We grabbed a drink and it turned out to be a great spot to people watch and to catch up since we hadn;t seen wach other in a few years. Drunks stumbling in from the casino floor and other clubs just wasted off their asses and dancing made for a great laugh. These drunk girls were getting wild hiking up the skirts above the waist. The dance floor lights up and the lighting guy made it bright each time a girls skirt got up high for better viewing lol. We walked over to check out LAX once but we didn't feel like dealing with a fake line (long line out front but talked to a couple who was leaving and they said it was ind of dead inside), so we went back to Rum Jungle and they were closed at 2am..Really! . So back to Eyecandy to drink and laugh at people. About 3:30am the place closed so we headed over to....
Cathouse for after hours - Not overly crowded on Wednesday at 3:30 we walked right in. Inside there was a solid crowd that built as the night went on. Lots of gorgeous women here. The staff was very nice. Strippers off work hanging from the ceiling. We had a great time and talked to lots of cool people. 7 trips to Vegas and this was the best After Hours I've been to. I would highly recommend checking it out. We stolled into the Orleans about 7am with the sun up. Great night!
Thursday - Jason and Jamie arrived. We pre-gamed in the room with Kettle One and Patron with plans on hitting Tryst. We wanted to be in line at Tryst by 10 so as not to have to deal with greasing and such. However, Jason got absolutley wasted pre-gaming and literally couldn't dress himself. We decided we needed to eat first to sober his ass up. So we went to The Peppermill and then walked up to Tryst. The food settled Jason down a bit. He doesn't remember going tot he Peppermill at all. He doesn;t remember anything beofre being in line at Tryst. At one point his speech was severly impaired and it wasn't a good look for him. We got it line at Tryst about 11:00.
Tryst - The line here is just a stupid set-up. If you have to piss parts of the line are roped off so you can't just step out and rejoin your group. People are in line for more than an hour and can't leave to piss. I don't like lines so we greased a guy to get in. He gave us free admission for the ladies but the guys were supposed to pay. When I got to the cashier I gave her a pass I got from ebay. She accepted it and that $1 pass saved me $30 bucks. It saved Kenny $30 bucks too. Jason however was too drunk to remember to use his pass and paid the $30. Tryst is beautiful and REALLY happening. My only complaint and it's a big one, it's too crowded. They let so many people in it becomes uncomfortable and hard to have a good time. Lots of attitude from people who had been bumped into all night. I had a drink spilled down my back from a girl who got slammed into by a guy. It was just way too crowded here. Had a guy get bumped into by Jason adn he stopped to spout off to us. I understood his frustration as it was a constant pounding you took here. My advice get a table or don't bother even going. At about 2:30 we split and headed to ...
Drais Afterhours. We were some of the first people in Drais. It was nice to get there early, just pay the cover and relax before the crowd jammed in. Hip hop in one room, House in the other. We went back and forth between the two. Not the best looking late night crowd, Cathouse was way better but it was a good time. After Hours rocks because people are just too wasted to care what anyone thinks. Strolled ino the Orleans at 7am again..damn sun was already up.
Friday -
We started off by going downtown. We watced the Freemont Street Experiance. Grabbed some shots and I decided to try the bottle service deal they had at....
Cherry - I was so glad I did. The cab ride was about $40 from downtown. We arrived our table was reserved and we went right in. We were seated by the pool. The weather was perfect. We paid no cover, we were escorted in, got a bottle of Sky for $100 including mixers. We bought another bottle for $100 and some Red Bulls. This is only on Fridays it'scalled Bottle Bailout. The outside chairs were very comfortable the staff was very nice. The waitress was friendly but not really attentive as she had about 10 tables to herself. We poured our own drinks and had to request more ice once. The crowd inside was a little ghetto and the DJ played right to that. He wasn't that good. He tried for the quick change style of a DJ Five but he often lost evergy. Overall excellent place though, cool bathrooms not much of a line. A chic feel by the pool. Some chick got wasted and got topless by the pool. Then she pulled her dress up around her waist and got in the pool in her thong. She got tossed out later for almost having sex with her guy on a pool chair. 5 People 2 bottles, a private Table, 10 red bulls + big tip all came to $370. We stayed till closing and headed too....
Seamless After hours - Kenny had stopped over the night before. He met one of the hosts who told him about the after hours and had promised him a free bottle. So they sent a Limo to Red Rock for us. We arrived about 4:30 to find out the bottle was now going to be $200 since we were late. We agreed but as we went inside the vibe was not afterhours at all. It was a strip club. No girls except strippers. They had to move 3 dudes getting lap dances from topless strippers out of our table. We didn't even sit down before our girls said "We're not staying here." So we told the guy nevermind, Kenny tipped him $40 for the limo ride and we walked across the street to our hotel. STAY CLEAR OF SEAMLESS AFTERHOURS. It was an obvious money pit set-up to give strippers a place to sell dances until dawn.
Saturday - We were all hurting badly after 3 straight nights of hitting it hard. Kenny flew back to Cali and Jason and I took the girls to see Blue Man. Great show. Afterwards we flirted with the idea of clubbing but decided to call it a night.
Sunday - We hit up Christian Audigier for the $150 bottle service. I contacted a host by the name of Jonny Thaing. He treated us great. We went right in, got a nice seat and partied with mixers for $150 a bottle. The waitress was on it. I never poured my own drink. The DJ was really good and played a nice mix. The place is struggling a bit. They were letting in folks with hats and sneakers. It was a spring break party that night and they gave away champagne to the best pole dancers. It filled up pretty well though. We cut out about 3 because Jason and Jamie had to get their wasted asses on a plane at 6:30 am. We had a great time and we were treated like Rock Stars. I would highy recommend contacting Jonny Thaing he hooked it up and treated us right. He also hosts at Pure and LAX.
Christina and I spent all of Monday in our room recovering before a late plane ride.
Overall a great trip. We really balled on a budget getting two bottle service nights for under $500 combined. I hit about $600 in bets on the NCAA tournament too.
Wanted to hit XS, Prive and Lavo but there just wasn't time. They'll be on the list for next time.
