Wondering if the M/O is even open yet (website says mid-March) and if anyone has gone in or actually stayed there. What did you think?

It's open. We were there on Saturday for lunch (which, btw, was an absolute trip highlight). It is extremely beautiful and extremely quiet, with a ridiculous staff to guest ratio. We had four people vying to punch the button in the elevator to send us to the Sky Lobby.

I looked at rates. Lowest I saw was 200, average seems in the mid-300s. Too rich for my blood but my parents are interested in a change from Wynn Tower Suites and might go.
        Epic trip was epic.

It's known as the Mandarin Oriental group because the first hotel they opened was called the Mandarin (in Hong Kong), and they later merged with the hotel group that owned the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. As these are their two flagship hotels, they decided to use both the names in the name of the organization.

(My friend's husband has a degree in hotel management and works for MO so I emailed him and asked.)

the MO in Hong Kong has amazing service, its one of those hotels that really goes out of their way to make their clients happy, so im not surprised that the Vegas MO is any different.

Rates at the Vegas MO are very affordable by brand standards. When they first opened in NYC I would say it was rare to find a room under $1000/night. Now you can routinely get into that hotell for $600. I have stayed at the Vegas property twice. The rooms are very well equiped but, they are going after a bit older demographic. I would say that the Wynn/Encore Towers and the SkyLofts are still my personal favorites to stay at. They are certainly more condusive to partying. I know some feel the service has fallen over the past year at SkyLofts but, I still enjoy my experience there. The tower suites have the major advantage of being in the Wynn/Encore and access are convienient to XS and Tao.

My parents are thinking about staying at MO, just for the experience. They're normally Wynn Tower Suites people. Personally I think they're going to find the MO a bit dull. They enjoy the ability at Wynn to decide how much interaction/noise/exposure to crowds they want, and at MO it's all quiet all the time.
