New Years Eve...worth it?

I'm just wondering if its worth going to Vegas for New Years Eve?
It's triple the price of what we just paid in February...
We'd be flying down from Canada. Maybe we're better off skipping NYE and going down earlier for cheaper?

I had a great time over NYE and met some awesome people that trip. That being said, I lucked out on getting a good room deal through planet hollywood, by flying home to cali and driving instead of flying into Vegas, and by Jack hooking us up with a fairly cheap NYE party with quick entrance.

I don't think it's worth the premium though if you don't have good deals/hook ups. You have to pay high rates for not so great places, there's a ton of people everywhere making it really tough to get into places unless you have the hook ups. The line for cathouse NYE was absolutely insane for the regular people. All the people everywhere also mean traffics a major pain on NYE getting around before and after the clubs.

Now I don't want to discourage you from going, but you can have a ton of fun anytime in Vegas. If good deals come up, a good group of people are going, then by all means be at Vegas for NYE.

But if you can afford it, and have some hookups by planning in advance it can be a memorable trip. At least once.

If you can, try to stay somewhere off the Strip. My first time in Vegas was New Years 2002 and it was one of the best parties ever. Usually, the farther you are away from the epicenter, the cheaper it can be.
