I'd say it's more of a chill quiet type of hotel, not really a party scene at all. That said, it's *really* nice, probably the best in Vegas? I'm not sure. Cheaper than the Venetian as well.

The rooms are really nice. You have one and a half bathrooms!! its a non gaming hotel so yea it is quiet, but its connected by a hallway to Mandalay Bay. Ive stayed at Mandalay a few times. Yes, your on the opposite end, but I didnt find it horrible but I like to go to NYNY. We tend to take cabs everywhere so when it all comes down to it, I feel its all the same. Just more annoying if you plan on walking the strip. But there is the tram from Mandalay to Luxor and Excalibur.

THE Hotel is awesome. Best hotel room I have ever stayed in (in Vegas). The walk from the elevator to first blackjack table is literally 2 minutes. Each room has its own robes and slippers. 3 flatscreen TV's (one in the giant bathroom). I-pod dock alarm clocks. Your own taxi stand apart from the MB. Access to MB pools and everything else.

I was extremely skeptical the first time I stayed at THE Hotel, but I was blown away by how nice it was. The location isn't a big deal to me, as I don't walk more than a block or two in vegas without taking a cab.

I stayed there for one night three years ago because the rate was $109 or $115 or something equally low. I enjoyed it. However, the check-in was INSANE. There was a huge line, and it moved like molasses. It took me probably an hour to check in. Other than that, zero complaints about the suite, or the hotel. It's a hike to the rest of Mandalay Bay, though, so be warned.

Also I had dinner at Mix, and drinks at the lounge afterwards, and they let us sit at a table on the balcony the whole night, so I have positive feelings towards the place.
              Epic trip was epic.

I love THE Hotel have stayed there twice. 1'st time was in 2003 most recent Jan of this yr. Much quieter in 2003 then in 2010. I love staying at this end of the strip during pool season, as we spend most of our time on site and leave property seldom. However, while there in Jan I spent alot in cab fare. I don't consider the walk to MB & casino that far (unless you've spent the whole day shooting Patron @ Moorea Beach and are trying to find your way back to THE Hotel, lol I'm sure it was hilarious for the casino patron watching the drunks in bathing suites stumble through).
Love Mix lounge on top of hotel. Plus with all the dining options your set.

Etleast one pool is open yr round. Cabana Reservations for the 2010 season will begin on February 1st. Please contact a Cabana Host at (702)632-7997.

As you can tell by my siggy I'll be back in May but this time staying in a suite @ MB.

I'm staying at Mandalay Bay in May, I don't think the distance is too much of a hassle. You can take the tram up to MGM/ NY NY walkway...then walk up to the Monte Carlo and its my understanding that you can ride the City Center tram all the way to the Bellagio from Monte Carlo. Then your pretty much midstrip. Or you could just cab it to the B or Caesars for 10 or 15 bucks, split between 3 or 4 people its really not that expensive.

Yes the tram tip is a good one but....wear comfortable shoes...lot's of walking from back of property where trams are located up to front of casino's.
