Tattoo question

Ok so here's the deal. Sometime in the near future I am going to get a tattoo...I am thinking I would like to do it before I go to Vegas in May. So my question for all you folks who already have tattoos is: how soon after getting a tattoo do you think I would be able to swim/put on sunscreen/not have it be all scabby/etc etc. I have googled this and I get so many different answers. Some people say 2 weeks, others say 3 months...so I guess I am just looking for personal opinions from people who have gone through this. Thank you in advance for all of your wonderful input

It really depends on how your skin recovers. I got work done on my arm about 3 weeks prior to my March trip last year but I tend to heal up pretty quickly. Where are you planning on getting it? By your pics your lighter skin so that will also play a part in how soon you should have it out in the open. How easily do you sunburn? I'm Mexican so my skin is definitely darker then yours and I don't sun burn that easily and if I do sun burn it heals pretty fast. Will this be your first tattoo?

i am planning on getting it on the lower middle part of my back (this will NOT be a tramp stamp so I don't wanna hear any comments of that nature!!) as far as my skin goes, i do burn easily if i dont use sunscreen, but as long as i use it i am fine. and yeah this is my first one. if all goes well w/ this one there will be more to follow.

Hahaha no worries in the stamp! Lol I'd say get it at least about a month and a half just to make sure your skin recovers in time. Also be sure to take really good care of it, clean it daily and use plenty of after care stuff. I think i used tiger balm for mine. Also try to keep it away from the sun until it's healed and if you are going to get sun on it make sure you use non scented sun block.

thank you for the advice!!! i am thinking i am gonna get it mid march to give it a full 2 months before Vegas....i feel like now that i made this "announcement" i can't chicken out and not get it!!

it's gonna be 3 stars width wise across my back....basically if you know the constellation Orion's Belt, you know it's 3 stars in a row...that's what it's supposed to be. so i am trying to get it near my waist area so it's like a "belt", get it? i'm so clever.......

Hahaha this chic I met had 3 stars on her lower back and when I asked her what it was for/meant she said it was her moto "Play like an All-Star, Party like a Rockstar and Fuck like a Pornstar" it was pretty clever too! Lol

i am very heavily tattooed , and the best advice is to take the best care of it from day 1 ,
leave the dressing on for at least 12/14 hours . This will stop it scabbing to start with , I know the temptation will be to rip it off and show everybody , but fight it .
the sun will damage the ink , and fade it ,
i would leave at least 1 month before exposing it to prelonged sun , depending on where you get it , you should be ok by then .
just treat it with a little care and attention , sun screen , after sun ,
if you feel it burning cover it imediatly
