Hello all....I haven't posted for quite some time, as I unfortunately don't have any trips to Vegas planned in the near future (saving for wedding and honeymoon
)
However, after reading the entire Patrick Frank thread from yesterday, I felt compelled to share my thoughts and experiences (at the risk of this post being deleted since the previous thread is now closed).
Initially, I have used PF in the past. Both times I used him for bottle service, he promptly returned my emails and text messages and immediately met me outside the club upon arriving. However, both times he also immediately introduced me to a junior host who led us to our table. The first time, I was thoroughly confused on who to tip and how much, and I probably undertipped PF and overtipped the Junior Host (after all, the junior host didn't do any legwork leading up to that night, he simply showed me to our table) . The second time I made sure I tipped PF when I first met him outside the club. I had asked for a table inside, and I didn't get it. We had 8 guys...ended up buying 5 bottles). I had planned on going back to tip him more if we got a table where I requested, but we didn't get a table in the vicinity that I had requested, so I figured the initial tip of $200 bucks was acceptable for the service I was provided. That being said, I don't think I would have been offended if he had bluntly said to me in our prior negotiations that a table on the dancefloor for 8 dudes is going to be a $500 tip. I realize supply and demand, and I realize that tables on the dancefloor are a premium, and I don't doubt for a second that those tables almost always bring PF a $500 tip. I would have like to have had the choice before hand to either pay a bigger tip and upgrade to a better table, or keep the table we had for a reasonable tip.
I would much rather have had him be honest with me up front. To further illustrate, I got bottles at Body English a few years ago on a Saturday night when the club was still hot. I called 5 hours before the club opened and talked to one of the hosts (senior host now, often mentioned on this sight). We had 4 guys, 3 girls, and he quoted me a 2 bottle minimum. I did not ask for a specific table, and I assumed we would be on the top level with most of the other tables (since our minimum was 2 bottles). When I get there that night, the host leads my party up to the front of the line and then he stops. After we show the door guy our ID's and are waiting to be brought to our table, the host says that he needs $500 cash to get us our table because he only has one table left. He said it was a great table (which it was). However, I felt like I was kind of being held hostage, as I was standing in front of a huge chaotic line with 3 chicks I had just met at the pool that day. I could either (a) pay the $500 and party our asses off, or (b) look like a huge chump and walk away with my d--k in my hand in front of my 3 brothers and 3 hot girls that I had just promised bottle service to.
In the end, I paid the $500 and we had awesome table downstairs (of which there are only a handful) and we proceeded to have a legendary evening. The fact that I had to drop a $500 tip to get that particular table didn't piss me off, but the manner and timing in which he brought up the $500 tip really pissed me off. I think he could have handled that much better, as he could have pulled me aside and discussed it with me when I first got there rather than making me dig in my pockets in front of the entire crowd (and my friends) and come up with the cash.
I guess the point I am trying to make is this: You get what you pay for in this world, and if you want the rockstar table in a good club, it is going to cost you some $$$, or you are going to have to know the right people. I didn't know anyone, so I had to pay to play. HOWEVER, there is a right way and a wrong to way to conduct business. Personally, I would always choose the PF scenario (i.e. know well in advance what you are getting and what you have to pay to get it, rather than being subjected to the situation I encountered at Body English.) That is just my two cents. I would choose to deal with PF again over the host at the Hard Rock. I would choose brutal honesty up front, rather than questionable conduct right before you walk to your table.

As you stated everyone has different experiences and this is why relationships are important because once you build them you wont experience this stuff anymore, youll know what to expect as will the host and everyone will be more comfortable. We have established that everything is dependent upon the host the venue the night the economy etc. the reality is we all venture to vegas for the same reason to let loose, party and have a good time.
