I really don't know the inside business of being a host but I know one thing, there is ALOT of money in Vegas ALOT. And hot clubs on hot nights with limited premium tables are nit going to be given away cheap. I guess experienced host will not assign premium locations without getting heavily compensated and know most of the time if they give the table away to early for a small tip then usually there's a high rolling party willing to pay big for your table, guess why people have been actually bumped from tables.

I personally would not pay $500, but I don't think $500 is excessive for a busy night, at a hot club, for a hot table. The hosts need to maximize what they can get based on demand/profitability. There are people that will pay >$30 grand for a 95 bottle of champagne, and there are people willing to grease a grand for a prime location.

People go to work to make money and as much as they possibly can.

I would think that a host is a douchebag if he did not say anything in advance, and once you got there, he refused to seat you unless you gave him a $___ handshake or changed the bottle minimums once you got there.

It appears Patrick was upfront, and you had the choice to go elsewhere which you did. and it sounds like you ended up having a good experience. I'm unsure whether or not you contacted the two hosts on the same day, cause I think the demand factor changes from day to day.. and also, i wonder if someone contacted your new host and offered to pay $500 for your table.. would he have bumped you?

I've dealt with patrick three times, and perhaps my point is not valid, because it had to do with guestlist, but my experiences with him have been very good. I thought he is prompt,reliable and accomodating. e.g. let us guestlist on weekend.

I think being a host is hard work.. I'm sure they get rewarded well for it, but I don't think it's just walking someone to a table, drinking, partying, women... they have to keep the club and their clients happy in a highly competitive atmosphere, and it's not really a long term career.

Anyways, this has been an interesting thread, and nice to see some new people and different opinions.

I guess it must depends because when I contacted him he told me there was no guestlist on weekends and that there was a one bottle min for 3 people but then when I asked if I could get a table with 2 people he told me it would be a 2 bottle min for 2 people and that he could do a 1 bottle min for me in Tryst. He said Tryst was a better club with better service. If he could have done guestlist for me I def would have tipped a nice amount of him doing that.

I too had a problem with PF and I dont use him anymore for Tryst/XS. Some of you guys need to take it easy on some of the posters that did had problems with him. Problems do exist with working with him. Not for everyone but just looking at this thread there are at least 3-4 people that weren't thrilled with his service.

It just cracks me up that we have all these "first time posters" that dont feel the need to contribute, but use our hosts and then have the balls to come on here and start calling the hosts dbags and shit. Im just always very skeptical because of past problems with certain indy hosts. Like royale said, at the very least post an avatar and at very best post the hosts info that you used so that A. it may be confirmed and B. people looking for hosts that will work for less tips may find one.

I could be wrong but I dont think this post is a troll. If that was the case I think the poster wouldn't have went on to say that they got with another host and had a great time at the club. Do you think he has a personal vendetta against PF? Why didn't he promote the host that he was pleased with if that was the case?

I dont think NYC was talking about your post particularly. I agree with PF as far as better service at Tryst. They been around a little longer, probably have a veteran management a tighter crew then XS which is only a year old.
