So after many connections and almost not making many flights bc of them being oversold we ended up making it to Vegas for a couple nights. Was originally planning on going friday till sunday but the flights looked real bad as far as standby went so we ended up flying out thursday am.
Thursday Feb 4
After working till 12:30 am weds night/thurs am got home and packed up. Took a quick nap and picked up my partner in crime for this trip maggie, the other travel companion of my friends that gave me this awesome gift for the year! 4:15 am was to her house to get her and to the airport at 4:45, flight from GRR to CLE, then CLE to IAH, then finally IAH to LAS. The flight was oversold by 5 to LAS but we ended up getting on! That was the moment i decided it was time to get the party started, we didnt really know wether or not we were gonna make the flight and had lots of clothes packed for different climates since we were already in Houston and could have went anywhere but were so pumped to get on the Vegas flight. Arrived in LAS around 2ish. Off the plane and off to ballys. Wasnt real excited about staying their but got 3 nights for 44 bucks since 2 of them were comped so it was to hard to pass up. Got checked in did the 20 dollar trick and got upgraded to a South tower strip view, not renovated, older but still we were there to sleep and that was about it. Got to our room and headed out on the strip to gamble and get our drink on. Had a few drinks at ballys, bills, casino royale, venetian, Mirage, and Wynn/encore. After those drinks we decided it was time to sober up a bit and have some dinner then get ready. Headed to Cabo Wabo at PH and had some dinner and a waborita. Headed back to the room to start getting ready and get our predrink on for Tryst. Was on the Guestlist and everything worked out perfect, didnt wait more than 5 minutes. Was my first visit to Tryst and man was i impressed. Had a very similar feel to XS to me. Got our party on and met some chick who took it about as far as she could dancing with me that someone could. I felt like I was being raped in public and 2000 people were watching, no shame here
Was at Tryst till around 2:30 and really wanted to check out Tao to so we headed over there. Got in real quick no line but man was it still packed. Come to find out the next day Paris Hilton was there. Bummed i didnt get to see her. Had one more round at Tao and headed back to the ballys around 4. Grabbed some drunken chicken fingers at Tequila bar in the back of ballys and headed to bed around 5:30ish.
Friday Feb 5th
Got up around 10:30 in a bit of a haze. Showered and went down to the casino to play a bit and grab some mimosa's for breakfast. I learned from my last trip that if I just keep drinking i never felt sick or tired so 4 mimosa's later I was ready to get the day started! Headed back to the room around 12:30 to grab Maggie and head to old vegas. Took the deuce down there, wouldnt ever do that again. Took forever, way to many stops, would have much rather paid the cab fare. Overall wasnt really impressed with old vegas either. Seemed so small compared to the strip. Had some yards at Mermaids and played a bit at all the casinos down there. Saturday was rainy and cold so tried to stay inside as much as we could. Headed back to the strip around 4 and maggie was tired so she went up to nap i went to PH and paris to play and grab some dinner. Went up to the room around 9 to shower and figure out our game plan for the night. Was trying to decide btw XS or Vanity. Had yet to go to Vanity so we decided on that. Took a cab over to HRH around 10:30 and sat at a casino bar for a bit to get our predrink on. Thought about hitting up WS to pregame but decided we just wanted to sit for a bit and drink. Headed over to Vanity around 11:15. I was not impressed by the doormen/"gate keepers" whichever you prefer. Granite I was not on a list but there were not that many people trying to get in and if they were it was huge groups of guys not one guy and one chick like we were. After standing there for about 30 minutes I said fuck it, waved a 50 and was finally let in. Paid my 40 dollar cover charge, maggie some how got in free and we went in to check it out. Overall I thought it was a pretty cool club but has nothing on XS. Much smaller than XS and just didnt have that Vegas feel to me at least. Like others have said on here their sound system was poppin and the decor is awesome. Our Bartender was Chantel from the show Rehab which is one of my favorites so that was pretty sweet plus she hooked us up pretty good to. Got my pic with her and the manager Matt (who seemed real cool btw, not like how they portray him on the show). Vanity was packed from around 1 to 2:30 3ish. We left around 3:30 to check out drais. Got to bills and drais didnt have much of a line or anything so we just decided to call it a night. I kind of wish we would have went in but it didnt look very busy at all. Was this to early for drais? Headed back to Ballys around 4:30 grabbed some food at Tequila again and went to bed.
Saturday Feb 6th
Got up around 11 to check the flights home for sunday and they were looking terrible, all oversold with lots of standby with higher ranks than ours so we decided to take the redeye at 10pm to EWR. I was super bummed bc I wanted to hit up the palms saturday night but sunday was not lookin promising to get out of Vegas so we knew we needed to leave on that flight. Headed out on the strip around noon and went to aria. Last trip there in january i didnt like it at all but we hung out there a bit longer this time and now I thought it was pretty sweet. I liked the darkness of the casino this time around. Still felt like an airport bc of how big it is but at least a contemporary one. Headed to margaritaville around 5 to grab some dinner and drinks and then back to ballys to pack up and play our last bit of slots. Took a cab to the airport around 8:15 got on the flight fine at 10, and was in EWR at 5:45 am, then a connection to CLE then CLE to GRR got home around 2ish and am now beyond exhausted writing this TR watchin the game. GO SAINTS!
Was a great quick trip to party our ass' off. I think this addiction to Vegas is here to stay. Can not wait to get back. Wish we would have known for sure if we were going or not bc I really wanted to meet up with some of the JC crew that was out there for superbowl but we really didnt know that we were for sure going till weds night around 10 pm and were leaving the next am. Hoping to get out there durring May AOD to meet up with some of you guys. Till next time.
