  • Luxor?

So my best friend and I turn 21 this year, and while I realize May would be THE time to go to Vegas, we're gonna have to wait til she graduates nursing school in June Now I kinda have my heart set on the Luxor, when my parents brought me to vegas when I was young my favorite part was always walking through the lobby of the Luxor!

I haven't read much about it on here. What do you guys think? Is it a good location on the strip? And anyone know specifically about the pyramid spa suites? Should I let go of my dream and pick a better hotel?

We're definitely gonna be there to party, gambling isn't too important to us, but a top quality room is.

    Thanks!

I would pick a better hotel. I stayed there this time last year. Had a tower room. Nothing great about the room. I got a good deal... it was a place to crash. Getting to the towers was a huge pain. I hate the location... too far south.

If you want a top quality room... this is not it. Try the Wynn / Encoure / Bellaigo / Aria. My favorite place is the Mirage.

the casino is ok, haven't stayed there. it's between mandalay bay and excalibur, and i've stayed at both of those. i personally wouldn't stay at luxor. would rather stay there than excalibur, though.

If you have your heart set on the Luxor, then you'll probably have a good experience there. However, like the others above me have mentioned, there ARE better hotels in better locations on the strip, but they will most definitely cost you a lot more money. Luxor is one of the cheaper hotels on the strip.

If you want a nice hotel, look into Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Aria. I'd prefer staying more towards the center of the strip, but I take taxis everywhere anyways so it doesn't matter.

Haha wow, your story is the exact same as mine. First hotel in Vegas I ever stayed at was the Luxor with my family when I was around 8. It'd just recently opened, it had the whole Egyptian vibe, etc. so I had fond memories....

But when I went stayed again 2 years ago, those fond memories died.... It's kind of a pain to navigate around in, and the service is lacking. It's also waaay down at the southern end of the strip. Oh, and they're trying to stamp out the whole Egyptian decor and design to make it more modern, so a big part of its original appeal is gone now.... Honestly, you can probably find good deals at better hotels off smartervegas.com

Ah well looks like I'll have to let go of the Luxor! My mom is really pushing for Planet Hollywood, but I'm thinking the Mirage might be more what I'm looking for. I know Wynn and Bellagio are really nice, but may be to expensive

I stayed at Planet Hollywood last July. I liked it. Plus the bathrooms are huge. It's nice for girls to get ready in. I think they still have the get a bottle for your stay deal.

You may also want to check out the MGM Grand. One of my favorites on the strip and they usually have some great deals going on. Chances are it will only cost you a bit more than the Luxor.

for June, I would go somewhere with a better pool than PH.
MGM & Mirage are probably both good options

Go with the Mirage. The pool is great... plus there's Bare. It's a great spot on the strip. I would stay there everytime...
