Hi guys! I've been lurking around for about a month now and I gotta tell you: This is a great resource for Vegas trip planning. Good job!!

I'll be booking my trip for mid-May soon. I'll probably be booking a room at the Mirage just because it's closer to most of the places my friend would like to see. So with that being said, I was wondering what your thoughts were on The Mirage? Has anyone stayed there? Do you love it? Hate it? What's good about it? What's bad about it?

I have so many other questions but I'll ask those after I have the hotel set.

    Thanks!

I love the Mirage... it's my favorite place to stay. I love the location... I think it's the best spot on the strip. The rooms were just redone a year or so ago and are great. They are modern with great beds / bath. I really love the way the casino is laid out... it's big but not too big with room to move around. Great places to eat drink. The pool / Bare are both sweet. I could go on and on. Let me know if you have any other questions. When they offer me a deal... it's my top choice every time.

It needs more cowbell, but other than that...

        Haha! Yes more Cowbell indeed.

I've read that Jet can be a hit or miss place. What do you think about it?
What about Revolution? I don't think I've read many things about it on this message board.

I've been to Jet twice... had a good time both times. I think it's worth checking out. I think Revolution is more of a place to grab a few drinks... it's nothing great. It's more chill... you can hang out with a few people and still have a conversation.

It does not have that wow factor... I think it's a great homebase. Nice rooms. I've have always been treated well there... free upgrades... drink / food comps / free easy entry to jet / revolution.

The Mirage is the only hotel in LV I've stayed at more than once and has become my dependable fallback place if I don't get any deals at other places. I think it's at the nexus of value, location, and enjoyment. It's not the cheapest, not the absolute best location, and not the best in enjoyment, but it's top five in all of them. JET's pretty good, especially Mondays, and it's pool's big. Bare's kind of small, but it's apparently a good spot for the party pool scene. Being across from the Venetian and Caesar's Palace and in walking distance to Wynn/Encore help with cutting down the taxis.

My one time at revolution I had the time of my life. It's small, but fun. Was empty til after midnight, then got packed.

                      i like it...

I'm a little late but I wanna put in my 2 cents The Mirage is my favorite too because

                      1. its very centrally located. easy walk to the monorail stops in harrahs/IP, bus stop right in front of the volcano, right across from 24h mcdonalds for late night counter-balancing of alcohol and casino royale (extra cheap beer and frozen ritas, decent cheap tables), liquor store on corner of harrahs, short walk to fashion show for ABC store, food court and last minute shopping, right next to caesars so i can eat at joe's every day... plus best location for walking to some of the better clubs (or at least a really short cab ride) - Tao, Tryst, XS, Pure, plus Jet, Lavo, Bank, lounges....

                      2. good deals, especially if you sign up for their emails. i also have gotten good deals for them as a package through southwest vacations and expedia. check in usually quick, and i'm always able to get late check out. casino nice sized, though i wish they had a few more tables. sportsbook decent and right next to CA pizza kitchen, carnegie deli, and BLT burger so that's nice.

                      3. decent food options. carnegie deli is 24h and they have some ridiculously sized sandwiches if you're greedy like me. BB kings is new and pretty decent, better than buffet for breakfast and lunch and has good music at night. their fine dining restaurants aren't bad either, i liked japonais, fin, and kokomo's if u don't feel like leaving the hotel. BLT burger is OK with me but the BF had stomach issues after the pork and shrimp burger (ew-the combo doesn't even SOUND right to me).
***Side note, i really liked Bare too, but mostly because I had the most awesome kobe burger there. seriously, put some of the nicer restaurants to SHAME it was so good. But yeah the pool is cool too, small and a lot of timid, not topless chicks the day i was there, but nice***

                      4. rooms are decent, small bathroom unless you get the deluxe with the dual vanity or upgrade to a suite. alarm clock docks your ipod, so that's nice for playing music while you get ready. and the windows open at least three inches, if you're a smoker like me

                      5. Jet has always been good to me too, though i've only been on Mondays. And every time I've gone past Revolution, I actually slowed down because they were playing really good music. Like music totally unexpected for a Beatles-themed lounge. IDK if this was just in the outer area, by the bar, or also inside the club too, but I would give it a try at least for drinks on your way to somewhere.

I don't remember any beatles songs being play in the revolution club lol. Standard club music. Good times.

I've only been once to Revolution, and it was before watching the Cirque show Love, and it was actually quite good. It was a very diverse crowd, because I believe it's the pre-Love show audience.
There was lots of T&A. I even found myself turning around to look.
they give out tons of free passes, two for one drink tickets around the entrance to the casino.

The one time I went to Jet, it was packed full of girls too. hardly any guys in there.

I've never stayed at the Mirage though.. and I think I would rather pay a bit more and stay across the street. I just think it needs an update..

                              Another plus …

While not a factor in January, Mirage also has Bare, the topless pool, which is a terrific spot for daylife. It’s a small space, but gets a great crowd.

I’m really curious to see how Liquid, the new Aria venue, will rank against Wet Republic, Tao Beach, etc.
