Hello everybody-
I've had a good time reading many of your New Years TR's. I'm bummed I missed the NYE craziness (by only a day-I was in Vegas from 12/27-12/30). My lady and I had a great time during our short trip and I cannot wait until our next one.
Rather than give a full blown TR, I just wanted to mention the highlights and share with you all how our night out at the club went. (Despite us having an amazing time, I judge from reading all of the other TR's on here, that the bulk of my trip will seem pretty boring to most of you.)
Like I mentioned in my earlier thread: I had not been to Vegas since I was 20 and my lady had never been to Vegas and as such, we were Vegas-nightlife-virgins. We stayed at Paris and our trip primarily consisted of exploring the strip and seeing all of the gorgeous casinos/hotels and playing some games in most of them.
We planned on hitting XS on Sunday (the day we arrived), but after a big and amazing dinner at TAO we decided that we were too beat from traveling to go out clubbing that night. Monday night was spent having a nice dinner at Red Square at Mandalay Bay and the smoking some nice cigars and watching a great band perform at the main lounge near the restaurant. With Tuesday upon us (our last day) we decided that it was then or never and we decided to commit to going out clubbing that night no matter what.
I knew from reading these forums that Pure is a great spot on Tuesdays and that we should get on the guest list if we wanted to avoid waiting for too long but didn't want to pay the money for a bottle. Rather than calling/texting the host directly like I learned from this site, I decided (since Paris and Caesars are sister hotels) to ask our concierge to get us on the guest list. $5 and 5 mins later after a few phone calls he printed out an email and handed it to us as a confirmation that we were on the guest list.
We spent the rest of the day as we did the other two days of our trip. BTW, Aria is the most gorgeous casino I have ever seen and it makes the Wynn look like Harrahs. I cannot wait to stay there some time in the future.
When 8:30 came around we went back to our room so that my lady could take a long bath and get ready. After about 10 minutes of watching that annoying lady on hotel TV doing a terrible impression of Cher while teaching craps, I decided to go down to Bally's and play some 4-8 hold 'em while my lady did her thing. An hour and a few Turkey on the Rocks later I was up $50 and I went back to my room to change.
One of the most important things that I learned from this site is that your wait in line at the clubs is inversely proportional to the hotness of the lady(ies) in your party. So I stressed to my gf that she needed to dress to turn heads-- and she did just that :-). I decided to pull out my three-piece pin-stripes and paisley tie--I have to say I looked pretty money. I had my lady throw my flask of bourbon in her purse too.
We hopped in a cab and we were at Caesars at around 10:45. Upon arriving outside Pure, we were amazed at how many people were crowded there already--it wasn't even 11:00! The general admission line was ridiculously long and the guest list area was about 6-7people thick all around. However, this is when the night started to become amazing.
While everybody was crowding the bouncers and yelling how many ladies they had in their party, my lady and I just played it cool and tried to make eye contact with the bouncer with the clipboard. And I kid you not, we were there for no more than 10 minutes when the bouncer nodded at us and summoned us up through the crowd up to the velvet rope where he checked our IDs and gave us each a stamp on the hand--he didn't even ask us if we were on the list or look to find our names on the list and we didn't grease anybody either.
At this point we were pretty happy with ourselves, but when we got to the cashier who told us to just walk in, we didn't need to pay, we started to wonder what the hell happened. We could not believe how easy the whole thing was. All this while there was a couple hundred people outside trying to fight their way in while having to wait 45mins and pay a $20-$30 cover on top of it all. And our hand stamps had the added bonus of giving us access to the Pussycat Dolls Lounge which was great by the way.
We stayed at the club until around 2am (there was still a long line to get in when we left). We had the most amazing time too. We spent the bulk of our time in the Pussycat Dolls lounge as it was the least crowded part of the club and it has the added bonus of two shows of hot women dancing and singing in lingerie.
AND to top off the night, I won $300 at the craps table before we made it back to our room for the night.
We had never been to a vegas club before, but is it normal for a couple to have such an easy time getting into Pure without having to wait or pay cover? Judging by everything I've read on these forums, I was prepared to wait a while and grease a few palms before we could get in. Please let me know your thoughts and sorry now for the length of this post.
