  • Why am I tipping the host $100-$200?

Ok, so am I crazy, but I've been to clubs in New York, Miami, etc. and I have never tipped a host? Doesn't the host work for the club and as a result it is their job to sell the tables at $300+ a bottle (where the clubs are making a 400% return)?

If I'm going to Miami, I'll call the venue and say "I want a table for 4-6 people on this night" and there has never been a problem (i.e. walk right up to door, say I have a table, and be sat immediatly)? If I'm paying over $1,000+ for bottle service why am I throwing an extra $200 in for someone who is just going to take my reservation and walk me to a table?

Or, are table reservations in Vegas so hard to come by that I need to pay someone to get one for me even if I plan on reserving a month in advance? Last time I checked, the economy is down the drains and there aren't a lot of people who want to drop thousands a night at a club?

The only justification I can see for tipping a host $100+ is if he hooks you up with a table in a good location, but according to the posts on this site, you don't even tip until after your host has sat you? If, I don't plan on coming back to the same club over and over again, is there another reason I'm missing?

You obviously have to bring up that you want a good table location and hint that you'll take care of them. And yes it's less of an issue if you don't plan to be back, but remember if you called them saying you're thru JC.com you're already going to be looked out for better than normal and you don't tip, just makes them less likely to help other JCers out in the future.

Do you have a problem with the waitress getting 20%????? You make your own drinks.

If u don't want to tip, don't go somewhere where it's customary to tip.

look hosts mainly work on commission and tips, you dont have to tip anyone if you dont want to. calling the club and reserving a table is def always an option but the problem is that you will be placed with a jr. host and theres always the chance of being bumped, say if I decided to show up and my host didnt have any tables left he will simply put me at the table that the jr host was planning to put you at. Also, I like to use my own host and build a relationship so that you dont have to fight your way to the front of the line you just simply text your host that youre in the building and they will meet you away from the crowd and walk you in. I dont know anyone that called a top notch vegas club reserved a table walked up to the front and didnt have a problem, they ask you whos table list are you on? you dont have an answer they simply walk away, and by the way if youre dropping thousands at a club what the hell is the big deal spending another 100-200?
it's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss

Tipping the host has paid off in several ways for me, 1. Table location and 2. Friends who weren't originally part of the reservation who call me and want to get in then I just ask the host and it's not a concern , they go with me to get them and let them right in. Say it's $50 to get into xs plus waiting in line, your host's grabs 4 of your friends and comps there admission , done.

                          there it is right there...

i feel like he had a point starting this thread... but everyone has proved why it's important to tip. no one comes to vegas to be cheap. what's an extra $20 from everyone in a group of 4 or 5.

take care of me... i'll take care of you.
