question about tipping

Hi guys, i'm new here, just joined today and I have a question about tipping. I was in vegas back in July and myself and one of my girlfriends were walking down the street when a promoter for a club came up to us and asked us to go to their club that night. He said he'd walk us in front of the line at whatever time and that he'd give us drink tickets so we wouldn't have to spend any money. We ended up doing that but i'm wondering now, were we suppose to tip him and if so how much, considering he was the one that initially approached us. We gave him $20 because we didn't really know what we were suppose to do. Any help with this would be great considering i'm going back again in march. Thanks!

Tipping goes a long way especially if you become a repeat customer, or take down his cell # and text him next time you're in Vegas to get a similar deal.

Most of the girls that I know who go to Vegas and get approached by hosts and get a similar deal don't tip and still get in everywhere. You gotta remember, it's their job to find/let girls into the club... the more hot girls in the club the easier it is for the club to sell guys tables/high entry cover.

For guys we generally tip $20 a head to a VIP host. Someone else may be able to speak up, but for girls I think even $10 a person would be pretty fair.

ok awesome thanks for the info. It will be helpful and plus i'm a firm believer in tipping so i don't want a host to think they wasted their time on us because they don't think we're willing to drop money.

In all honesty a group of just girls usually dont tip because well their girls and clubs cater to them! It definitely helps out to tip if your girls as it may get you extra drink tickets next time your in Vegas and use the same person but it's their job to get girls into clubs! Specially if the girls are hot!

When in March are you going to be in Vegas?!?

Its true, that was the only time that whole week we were there that we dropped any money on anything alcohol/club related. But I mean he still got us there for the night and took care of us with drink tickets and stuff so we felt obligated to tip, even though it wasn't much. I'm going march 31-april 5th. It's going to be a gongshow..as per usual.

Thats the promoters job. Hes supposed to fill the club with women. Thats why they give him the drink tickets, ect. You did fine.
