I’ve been working overseas for the last 5 years. I’m originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania and now I call Sacramento home when I’m back in the US. Whenever I get the opportunity to take a little break I make it a point to get out to Vegas as much as my schedule will allow. I’m tentatively scheduled for a mid-April vacation and my plans include another Vegas trip and associated exploration of the ever-evolving nightlife scene. It doesn’t seem that long ago that Tuesday night at Studio 54 was the midweek place to see or be seen and RumJungle was considered a Tier 1 party spot.

My last trip was a midweek affair last year just after MDW with tables on the Pure Terrace on Tuesday, Main Floor of LAX on Wednesday and a badly-located entrance corridor table at The Bank on Friday. My club music passion is Progressive and Hard House but I’ve learned to be more tolerant of other genres as my girlfriend and the other folks we party with prefer the Vegas standard Top 40/Hip Hop/Commercial Dance mix. I favor staying within “crawling” distance from my hotel room because I always rent a car and then end up having to take a cab back to my hotel after a healthy overindulgence. I then wake up and take a cab back to the place I was the night before to get the rental car. Now, I plan my hotel stays around my preferred partying destinations so I can just walk.

I’m taking a wait-and-see approach for my upcoming jaunt in April. The introduction of Haze and Vanity should shake things up a little as far as weekend party patron distribution. So, I’m certain I’ll be asking some questions prior to finalizing a plan for April.

I’m really glad I found this forum. Sifting through other forums to get decent (current) intel on Vegas nightlife is downright tedious. I truly hope I can give back as much as I’ve taken from this resource.

I’m most definitely a MMA fan. For those who don’t know, the name comes from Joe Rogan who goes absolutely looney tunes anytime someone even remotely looks to gain position by trapping his opponent’s arm with his leg. I still have yet to see the Omoplata used to finish in a major UFC event. I believe in the last Strikeforce card someone used it and transitioned to an arm bar to finish. But, I’d need to review the video again to confirm that. I’ve never been to a live MMA event. I would love to go see the WEC show in ARCO tonight. But, I’m like 6000 miles away right now.

It's pretty cool to go live. I've been to some amatuer shows around here and it's awesome. Also went to an IFL show a couple years back. Haven't popped my live UFC cherry yet, but I just got tix to UFC 111 in March!

UFC 111 looks like a great card barring any injuries, Staph infections, motorcycle accidents or calls to active duty military. I’m pretty jealous. GSP should handle Hardy but it might be a takedown clinic snooze fest decision. However, the great thing about the UFC is that anyone can get caught with a short left and it’s all over. As for Carwin/Mir, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I think if Carwin follows the Lesnar/Mir 2 blueprint and just overwhelms Mir with explosive take downs and keeps his massive cinder block hands raining short shots he can take it. I know Mir has put on a tremendous amount of mass recently but that isn’t the reason he lost to Lesnar. It is all about wrestling, Couture at 230 pounds hung in with Lesnar until he got caught with a punch.

I really appreciate the warm welcome from everyone. Please excuse my long-winded replies…especially about MMA.

Welcome - hope all here can help you for your trip. And you definitely have to go see a UFC card live - I went to 100 and it was a crazy time [minus all that almost-getting-into-a-fight stuff]!
