So here I sit in a very familiar place, my room in the Imperial Palace. Got to Vegas for my second time this week earlier today after a few days in Los Angeles and places surrounding it. I was actually here Thursday night as well (stayed at Paris then) and thought I'd do a descriptive trip report from Thursday night. The reason, hopefully I'll repeat the same luck and get some good Vegas vibes going. I could probably turn Thursday's tale into a four or five post saga, but I'd really like to play some Video Poker so I'll keep it short.
Thursday-
Arrive in Vegas at 830 in the morning. Make use of the free Internet at the Airport and get a couple of hours of work done. Normally, it would take me three days to do the amount of work I did, but I'm in Vegas and there's no time for pretending I'm doing stuff when I'm really just wasting time.
Get rental car and arrive at Paris at 11am in the morning. Say what they heck, see if I can check in to my pimpin free room. No rooms available, but just my luck I can be upgraded to a lemans suite (I think that's what they call it) for just 20 bucks. I take them up on it.
Go to room, drop off stuff and head back down. I've never really spent time in Paris before, I guess it's ok. One thing I notice though, the 'Le" everything "toillette, checkin, restroom" whatever else is really lame. I feel like I'm in a blend of the Imperial Palace and MGM Grand with a french twist to describe the overall place.
Play three hours or so of VP and Let It Ride to justify my room and head downtown. Spend time at the El Cortez playing and learning craps (I can't get the rules for this game for the life of me) and then get a few drinks while wandering fremont.
Feeling pretty good now and make my way back to Paris. I take a two hour nap. Shower, get dressed. By now it's about 8pm so I check in with my guy at Tryst. I'm planning to meet a few people I know there and we'll be arriving separately, want to make sure it's cool for them to stop by and have him take care of them. It's all good and I move on.
I walk downstairs, walk over to Planet Hollywood and do my pregaming for tryst. Sit down, play VP and get a beer. Get a second and move on. Stop at Bally's, Bill's, Flamingo, O'Sheas, IP, Harrah's, Palazzo and Venetian for at least one beer at each place while playing VP. Actually staying about even.
Get to Tryst about 11pm and I'm right in thanks to my guy. My people aren't here yet so I have a Red bull and Belvedere, check the scene (It's friggin bumpin in there) and walk over to Caesar's.
I like to stop at Cleopatra's lounge from time to time and it is HOPPING. Problem is this, both NASCAR (anybody who got stuck on the strip while they played matchbox with their cars on it knows. Yes, Jeff Gordon, I'm the crazy white guy in the Dodge Charger that was F bombin the shit out of you) and the Rodeo are in town so it's a country cover band. Nothing against country, but I don't like it. The Cowboy hats, belt buckles and mullets are totally out of control. At least htere's good people watching.
Head across the street to Tao and see what's happening. Walk right in without being charged (total luck) and check it out. It's packed as usual, and as usual on a Thursday it's a major sausage fest. Creep around for a while looking for Loves and Wishes. Maybe I did see them, maybe I didn't. Guess we'll never know. I was approaching fall out of my chair drunk.
Leave Tao after about an hour and it's back to Tryst. My folks are there and we are gettin it in. Lots of RB and Belv flowing, shots of whatever was ordered and dancing like it was our job. 230 or so, I decide I've had enough and it's back to Tao. About 45 minutes there and back to Tryst. It's winding down, so back to Tao to shut it down.
Striking out in every direction, I've reached about 4am with no real prospects. So, I head to the IP. Spend a while at the VP bar but no luck. Head to Bill's no luck again. Start walking back to Paris around 530 and get a call from a friend in North Carolina who is on her way to work. I recap the night and she tells me that I'm lame if I give in now.
So, back to the IP and I'm dying at this point. I can barely move my legs, I'm freaking whacked and I'm surely slurring. Sit down at the VP bar there and there's an obviously distraught gal. After a half hour or so I realize what's going on, she's locked out of her room. Turns out, she and her friend got in a fight in the room and the friend dead bolted her out of the room! She's callin and calling and can't wake her up.
Bottom line, I ended up with a 29 dollar room at the IP at around 630 am and fun was had with a gal from Idaho.
Leave and finally make it back to Paris at 830 am. get up at 11 and drive to L.A.
Phew. Can I please get another night like that? XS and then maybe Moon are in the plan. Any Late Night JC readers got a suggestion? Getting ready now.
