Ok I just came from there for Halloween I dunno if you read my TR but it's possible to sandwich... it just didn't work for me.

Make sure that if there are other people around you hide it well cause I left a little of the 50 sticking out and I think this other guy saw and she gave it back to me and said she couldn't gimme an upgrade. But just tell them it's your first time or celebrating something and they'll work it out. I just told them it's my first time and my gf just got into med school

Patrick actually got spa passes and extra stuff after he checked in and gave a 50 hence why I was trying for the same. So I guess stick with that if your expecting a lotta extra stuff (I think pure passes to but i'm not sure)

KC said it was a rejected sandwich attempt when he tried. Thats like the only place I know where they are strictly enforcing... the standard rooms really suck so sandwiching would help alot.

Yea, I think you'll have a tough time at CP. I suggest selling really hard on something you are celebrating. Buffet/spa passes are tough in general I think. Night club passes are easily available anywhere, but they aren't that helpful with a bunch of dudes. You're better off with JC contacts and bottle service for clubs.

If you do sandwich, like what was said earlier - look for a desk clerk alone or at least only having one clerk next to him/her. Also, try to target someone who's younger as they tend to be more receptive to the $20 trick (supposedly, according to the sites dedicated to the trick, 20-something women are the best ones to target). Lurk a little in the back of the lines to observe them so you don't get stuck with someone having a bad day. As for Cesaer's Palace, all that I've read (here & elsewhere) is that it's very hit or miss.

The key to the 20, or 50 if you are ballin, trick is that you can't just give the card and sandwich in the money. You've got to be sure to strike up some convo. Get them laughing, make fun of other people in line, make fun of their co-workers, anything to get them chatting. The happier they are, the more likely they are to take care of you.

Most times, if you get them going, they are already thinking upgrade before you give them the ccard/cash sandwich.

I don't always try the 20 dollar trick, but I've yet to be turned down. Have had it work at Planet Hollywood, MGM, IP, Mandalay and TI among others.

I read on a different forum, that Planet Hollywood is also now disallowing front desk clerks to accept the sandwich in exchange for an upgrade.

Well I tried it and was shot down. It wont hurt to try but stay away from the classic rooms. BTW I was there in Labor Day and I think the youngest person behind the desk was maybe 35 or so. So good luck let us know how it goes .
I swear feels like the last few nights we've been everywhere and back but I just cant remember it all

... are you going yourself or with a group? As if you go with a group, contact the total experiences people at harrah's and they will sort the room"upgrades" and passes etc, so you can save the anxiety of the $20 trick and long line queues!

I was at CP a couple of weeks ago and for party time it was great!

However, the buffet there is not great and you would probably be better walking over to the mirage and parting with $10 over there, or if you want something special, $20 at the Bellagio on the other side- it's not worth the comp effort!

The spa is certainly worth the price, whatever they charge!

my photo slideshow is on youtube and the link is below, but you will have a great time at caesars- i had my best trip to vegas staying there!

I went the last week of september and I SUCCESSFULLY upgraded with the 20 sandwich trick.

What I did was, I was called up, I started chatting with the desk clerk about random things. She asked me what my background was and I made her laugh. THEN I gave her the card and the money and I asked for any upgrades. She put the money down and gave me 2 options for upgrades.

I don't think it's that difficult, you just have to approach it the right way I guess.

Also, if it fails at check-in, you can always call the front desk, after your in the room, and just say something like "I was really hoping for a better room. Can we work something out? ect. ect.". I have done this before, and it worked. Its probably easier for them to justify too, because it looks like their taking care of an "unhappy" customer.
