Halloween TR
So, I was inspired by Cisco’s birthday TR and I figured my Halloween night was def worth writing a TR for.
Time – 7:00PM
Location – Queens
So, I’m standing on the train platform in my Ghostbusters costume. Everyone’s in costume around me and I’m starting to get excited about the night. I was originally supposed to head into the city with about 6 people, and 1 hour before we were supposed to leave, they all cancelled. Some got into fights with their bf’s and such, I was pissed but I was planning on meeting up some college friends anyways so I figured I’d head into the city solo, since I’d be with a group most of the night anyways once there.
Riding the subway on Halloween is always interesting and fun in itself. At one point, when transferring to the 1 train at Penn Station I see this guy who looked like Wesley Snipes’ twin, wearing an all black outfit with a sword hanging off his back. He had shades on and the Blade haircut. I was impressed. When he turned around he had “Tax Evader” on his front sweater. Everyone was giving him praise because he looked exactly like him.
Time – 8:00pm
Location –Village, Manhattan
So the plan was to meet with my friend in the village. I get out at 14th street, and it was chaotic. There were about 100 people trying to get OUT and about 100 people trying to get IN. There are 8 turnstiles. We had to stop people just so we could use 1 turnstile to get out. I get out, and it’s raining. I had to run a few blocks to find my friend. At one point, I couldn’t get through a barrier so I decided to just walk with the parade. And as I’m walking, everyone’s cheering and taking pictures of me. I played along.
I find my friend eventually who’s dressed as Turk from scrubs. Nobody got who he was, he just wore scrubs. He says our other friend is waiting a few blocks away in his car. He’s picking us up and we’re headed uptown to a bar that was going to have an open bar. Cool. So as we step out to walk it starts pouring rain. But since there were so many people with umbrellas, we just ducked our way through the crowd and stayed relatively dry.
We get to the car. He’s dressed as The Mask. Hop in, weave our way through traffic and find our way to our first bar.
Time – 9:30pm
Location – McFadden’s, 42nd St (East side)
At this point, I’ll refer to my friends by costume. So Turk and I walk into the bar and up to where we have to pay. The girl asks him what list he’s on (apparently only people on a guestlist could get in). He froze, looks down at the board she’s holding, points to a random name and says “That one”. She nods and says Ok. We pay, get our wristbands and walk right in.
We get all our friends in, settle in a spot by the back and proceed to abuse the open bar like animals. I decided to drink Jack & Coke all night. It was a great time, we’re all getting smashed, everyone’s dancing, and we’re watching the Yankee game. Good stuff.
There were these 2 girls that were dressed as Beyonce. I didn’t realize it right away. They had on the tight outfit from her Single Ladies video:

I approach one of them (she looked at me earlier and smiled) and say, “I’m trying to figure out who you’re supposed to be.” She looks at me, and shows me her hand. She had on a glove with a ring on it. And she starts moving her head. It hits me. “Oh, Beyonce.” She laughs and asks, “Who did you think I was supposed to be?” I said, “I don’t know, I thought you were really into Ballet or something.” We start talking.
At this point, during my drunkenness I receive a text from one of my old HS friends. She was having her bday bash at some place in Soho, and it was on my list of stops for the night. The plan was stay at the open bar until it closed at 12, then hop over to her party and continue there. Turk, Batman & Robin (my other friend and his brother) were all going to go with me.
I excuse myself for a moment to use the bathroom and gather my friends. I come back and Beyonce disappeared. Half of the group decides to leave and the other half decides to stay.
As we’re outside gathering the group. I’m talking to Batman, and he says, “Maybe you should help him out.” I turn around and Turk is talking to this girl who’s with her friend and her friend is kinda by herself now sitting on this huge cement block. So I walk right up to her and start talking to her. She’s british and its her first time in NY. So we get into this conversation about how I say she’s on “vacation” and she calls it “holiday”.
Skip 10 minutes later and Turk says we’re leaving. I say bye to the british girl.
We leave and start walking toward one of the guy’s car who was in our group. Apparently we were going to meet up a friend of Turk’s sister (she’s Morticia from Addams Family). Pack the car tight and we’re off.
