  • Harrah's Total Experiences- Trip Report

OK, Firstly, thank you forum members for helping in planning our trip. and I would like to share my observations of the trip and the "Total Experiences" experience!

    here we go....

None of our party had ever stayed in a Harrah’s property before (we have been in the Mirage, Wynn, Venetian, THE Hotel and Bellagio, and I have organised group trips before) but as we were after a party weekend for my Dad’s 60th, he wanted to see Bette Midler and two of our party had not been to Vegas before, we thought Caesars would be the best place to be.

Having spent some time trying to organise the trip from the UK, making transatlantic phone calls and surfing a host websites trying to book, I was introduced to Harrah’s Total Experiences programme where we had a dedicated member of staff to assist in organising our trip, for free! This is a brand new programme and we were the pilot group from the UK.

Prior to departure we (me and Dani from Harrah's) met up in London and worked jointly to plan an itinerary, and when we arrived everything was sorted and reserved and although I am a low roller, we were treated like VIPs.

Forget $20 tricks and club hosts and all of that, as a group we wanted for nothing, just ask Danielle and she arranged it all- front of queues not just in Harrah’s properties, but everywhere.

So here is the brief trip report from the best week ever.

    Tuesday.

Arrived from London to Vegas. Picked up by Limo (nice!)

Got into the room (Harrah’s upgraded us to a VIP rain man suite- see photos) which was the best!

Went up Stratosphere, which was ok, and then downtown. My brothers had never been to vegas before, so I always think downtown is a good place to start before the lack of sleep and cumulative alcohol intake catches up with you.

Wandered around Fremont St, ate in Firefly at the Plaza, which was actually very good and worth going there for the view alone.

Had drinks after and took an early night!

    Wednesday

Some of the group played golf at Rio Secco, which was supposed to be good, we went to Town square, which was a bit of a waste of time. In the evening we went to Joe Stone Crab, which was really, really good!

Still feeling rough after previous night early to bed.

    Thursday

    Shopping in the morning.

Afternoon in the Qua Spa, which is probably the best spa I have ever been to and well worth a visit, people who read this, go when you are in vegas!

In the evening, we went to Lance Burton, who was quite disappointing (my brother wanted to go!) and dinner at Joel Robuchon. Thought the food was excellent, but for a *** Michelin rated restaurant, thought the service was quite poor.

Then drinks at Studio 54, which was a lot of fun!

    Friday

We went to Cascata for golf and lunch. The course was magnificent. Evening was Love at the Mirage (again, the best seats) and then to a VIP booth in XS.

This was our first big night out after a couple of days there- I thought the club itself was lovely. Beautifully laid out, but the clientele was very mixed and it seemed to me that most of the ladies were working! But still a good night.

    Saturday

Spent more time at Qua (really is THAT good). Went to Bette Midler, and met her afterwards for photos (Again, thank you Harrah’s total experiences), straight into Pure, no queue at all, on the stage with shaggy dancing away- and lovely ladies- one of the best nights ever!

    Sunday

We chilled, played craps, shopped, wondered around Vegas and ate in Paris, which was a lovely way to end the trip.

    Trip Highlights:

    • The Qua Spa is among the best in the world. I was so relaxed, I didn’t want to leave. Robin, my brother rather effusively noted, “Spa was the best I have ever been in. Absolutely amazing...10 out of 10.”

    • The cooking at Bradley Ogden is amongst the finest I have ever experienced. Some restaurants have more Michelin Stars, but this is proper cooking for proper people, with the best service in Vegas. In my mind, better than Robuchon.

    • It was a dream come true for my dad to meet Bette Midler and get his photo taken with her. Her show was a medley of songs, jokes, stories and dancing and only possible in Vegas. Three weeks later and the photo with Bette has replaced my mother’s picture on his office desk!

    • I have a soft spot for old Las Vegas and the “neon flashin’ and one arm bandits crashin’”, so taking a wonder down Fremont Street ignited a feeling of nostalgia of a bygone era.

    • On previous visits to Las Vegas, we just couldn’t get into Pure. This time we were VIPs, dancing and singing with Shaggy on stage.

    • Having sushi at Ah Sin! in Paris in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower and with the backdrop of the Bellagio Fountains was a perfect way to spend our last night.

I am not a gambler, so going to Vegas is not a high rolling experience for me, but like many visitors, I go for the spectacle and general fun. To give you some idea, my comps level on my total rewards card for this week was $1.40.

At no time was it expected that we have to play casino games or make big bets, just to have fun in Vegas.

I can’t complement Harrah’s any more and would recommend anyone who is thinking about taking a group to Vegas to do it through Total Experiences- and they have an office in London, not just the States.

    They have a website. www.harrahs.com/totalexperiences/

but if in the UK make sure you speak to Dani. i don't have her number, but i am sure it is on the website.

Note: I am not employed by Harrah’s, nor do they pay me, I am just a grateful customer and think this is a really good service and made this trip to Vegas the best ever out of the 5 other times I have been, made my Dad's 60th really special and I want to share it with everyone!

Happy to take questions and comments!

My wife reads this, so let's just say it was a good deal!

However, the Augustus rooms would have been just fine as they are really good (i had a visit!) so whilst staying in the rain man room was special, it was probably a bit unnecessary!

I am sure we got a heavily discounted rate on the rooms.

I sat with dani in London and we decided between us what we wanted to do and when, and she sorted the whole thing for us. I booked nothing- she took away all the stress as she (or her team) knew who to contact as they are full time in Vegas and do what they do!

I turned up at the club as agreed and said to whoever was at the door, hello, I'm Oliver, can I speak to xxx, and we went straight in! No lists, no wait no nothing. Of course we had to order bottles, as one would expect, but it was stress and hassle free- no looking for a host who you have never met, or sub queues or VIP queues (like i am used to on previous visits)

Same for golf, the boys who play golf got good times on great courses- sure they paid for them, it is Vegas not a charity!

We did not wait for anything, anywhere.

We got tables where we wanted and when, really good seats for all the shows (all in front 3 rows) and best area VIP in clubs.

I mean it was the best of the best- and it was all organised for us for free!!!!

Of course we paid for the tickets and paid for dinners etc, but having organised trips before, it is a pain in the ass, especially for boys trips of more than 5 people getting into clubs, host or not!

                    It is a no brainer!!

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, but I think your selling it too hard.. Seems a little fishy to me IMVHO......

                      http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/...0News/2641251/

seems you need six people to book the experience.. and the level of VIP they give you is based on how much you spend with them...

The service is complementary if three or more rooms are booked....."...this is a complimentary service where guests pay for only what they book; the more the group adds to their itinerary, the greater the access and upgrades their Specialist can offer..."

Sounds like they treated you well.

If you use the info available on this site, you can have the same treatment at those clubs.

I am a Chartered Surveyor living in London. I buy and sell real estate, not hotels and had NOTHING to do with Harrahs ever until 10 weeks ago or so.

No sell from me! I just love las vegas- my favourite hotel is THE hotel and it is still a "nicer" hotel in many ways than Caesars, but for location, and to party (especially for vegas newbies) I chose Caesars. I also spoke to planet hollywood, but prive got shut (at time of booking), and thought that seemed a bit shit.

Sorry if i seem effusive- But I had the best week ever and wanted to tell the forums- you will see I was asking for advice before I went and feeding back now!

And BTW i resent the "fishy" accusation.

I am not sure how their internals work- we had a budget but this was not a "circus circus" weekend. We were there for 6 nights. As you can see, we ate well, we drank well, we partied hard and did a lot of shopping. I am not a gambler, but my brothers played quite a bit, but certainly not at whale levels and mostly poker.

Like I say, we were the pilot group from the UK and we just got back, the project was launched this week after our group had been evaluated, i think!

So if there were 30 of us, i think we may have swamped them for a pilot.

For their internal details on organisation, i don't know jack- speak to them, but for us, we had a ball and nothing was too much trouble.

I certainly didn't mean to offend you. I was just stating my opinion and I'm sorry you resent the "fishy comment". It just seemed to me that the whole truth wasn't brought out. Sure your entitled to your privacy and certainly do not have to discuss monetary values. But this service is certainly not "free" as you reference a number of times. The level of VIP treatment is based on how much you spend with Harrahs.

Taken directly from the harrah's website...

What kind of VIP treatment do I get?
Our specialists will work closely with you to let you know what levels of insider access your group qualifies for. The more your groups books, the better the upgrades and VIP benefits. This might include VIP check-in, access to our private lounges, VIP entry to nightlife venues, a personal concierge on site that is only available to Total Experiences guests.

So the way I read it is, sure you had a great time, but others that try this service may not. I see it has if you scratch their back.. they will scratch yours...

Personally I don't think its a "no brainer" as you say. A definite consideration for big groups, but as dnix said the access to clubs can be the same through direct contact from the host listed on this site. And again I'm sorry if felt my comment was discourteous. That was not my intention.

I organised a stag weekend about 3 years ago and we did the "host" route, but still waited in queues and needed different people to do different things. ANd it got a bit messy in parts.

I know high rollers and this service is what they get. I am not a high roller, i find i get the same thrill from playing $1 rather than $100 and high rollers pay for it by betting, for me it was free.

I paid nothing over and above the cost for things as they were

True we did use Harrah's properties more than others, but you generally use the property you are staying in more than others, and I think that is teh intention.
