iPhone users... I need help

I want to get an iPhone, so to test the e-mail to see if it will work for me i set up my work account on my wifes iPhone.

I figured out that my server holds all my e-mails for 5 days, so i am receiving the e-mails fine on the iphone and my outlook on my work computer. I thought everything was good until i tried forwarding, replying, and just sending any e-mail in general. It stalls out and gives me an error message that says "Cannot send mail. The server rejected one of the recipients addresses. The message has been placed in your outbox." I have tried sending an e-mail to a few different e-mail addresses (mainly gmail and aol accounts) and i keep having the same problem.

I dont know if maybe the outgoing is not set up correctly? I have my outgoing the same as the outgoing on my outlook. The outgoing mail server is smtp.(my company).com And on the advanced settings in my outlook we have the "Outgoing server (smtp) requires authentication" checked. And then under it is marked as "use the same settings as my incoming mail server."

Now i am not an IT guy. We are a small company and the mail is POP3 and we dont have an in house IT guy either, just a guy we call every now and then and i know hes never worked with iPhones before so im hoping to get some answers here.

Can anyone help me?

Setup a gmail or yahoo account and forward your webmail to it. Iphone works great with those 2. Thats what I did. I have 2 companies, so it made it easier for me to have both emails going to the same place.

I can't get the issue to occur on my pop but then it could be different. I have seen something simlar with mac's talken with out exchange box. This was caused by the address field being incorrect. The person shorten there email address not to include the .com

Thanks guys. I think i figured it out. I looked at everything between my server settings in my outlook and the iphone and i figured out the outgoing server needed the username and password too, because the way my server at the office is, it mimics the incoming for the outgoing. Never noticed that before. Was an easy fix i never noticed. Thanks for the help though. I appreciate it.

Ok so heres a few general questions about the phone before i get it...

1. Lets say you get like 20 e-mails and i read them on my outlook already at work. Is there a way to go into the phone and just say "mark all prior e-mails read" or do i have to open and close every e-mail so mark them as read?

2. Is there a way to set the phone so like if the e-mails are more than 5 days old they will delete so i dont have a million e-mails loaded on my phone?

If you can convince work to allow you imap it will work out much better for you.
