Change of Pace....Downtown and Dives

I think most on here are pretty well versed in the mega clubs, lounges and bars on the strip. But, we never talk about off strip joints.

As I'm getting a little older, I can't club it up every night and like to mix it up a little. So, I'm curious to see people's favorite off strip joints whether they be downtown or dive.

Personally, I love the Griffin downtown and of course the Double Down is always fun for a change of place. But the number one place I'm mad at people for not telling me about sooner is the Artisan! Been to Vegas about 35 times in the last 10 years and I just found out about this joint in July.

Do yourself a favor. Hit the Artisan.

All of us have dive bars and "wanna be" nightclubs locally. We go to Vegas for something different. Thats why the majority of discussions are the Mega clubs.

Good thread though. Like you, Im sure there are others wanting the info.

The whole fascination of Vegas for me now is the dreamlike detail and scope of these clubs. I gotta be honest, I thought NYC was unsurpassed in terms of party vibe...until I hit Vegas.

Same - been to some local bars away from the strip with the locals I know and it just feels like I'm hanging out at a place from home. Nothing special to it. The only time I'd prefer a watering hole over a club in LV is if I've hit it hard the night before and need a break.

I'm sure there are some spots that are pretty kick ass but like everyone else has said, we go there to get away from our local spots.

I hear Beauty Bar is good if you're into the hipster scene.

Honestly, I'm kind of two minds on this. On the one had, there's something to be said for mixing it up to avoid falling into a rut or becoming desensitized. On the other hand, if you're looking for something other than the typical Vegas scene, why come to Vegas?

Seriously, spend a couple of hours at the Hang 'N Loose over by the Sahara sometime and you'll see what I'm talking about. Walk across the street from Mandalay to the Jackalope and order two RB and Vodkas and a couple of beers and then dance for joy when you are asked for 12 dollars!

In all honesty I have to agree with you there, I'm sure I will find myself hitting some other spots soon enough. My first two trips this year were downtown Vegas after all so I've been fortunate enough to be able to mix it up a bit. I'm sure I'll throw in an extra trip here and there for that very reason in the future

Well, there the Beauty Bar [the one I that I wouldn't mind going to], Blue Martini... I hear things about Double Down Saloon about being a "good dive bar" with Friday's & Saturday's being hard rock/metal nights

Jail? I keed. I keed. First Vegas club I ever went to. Used to be the only game in town for a while. It would be The Beach one night, Bikini's the next. LOL.
