Phoenix, Az - Nightlife?

Any JC'ers from or familiar with the Phoenix area? I'm spending a week there on business next month and would like to check out the local clubs. From reading yelp and whatnot, it sounds like Scottsdale/Tempe has a pretty active nightlife but full of alot of dbags. I'm staying in downtown Phoenix and hoping to find some decent places to checkout. Thanks

Sweet - Appreciate the help. I'll be there Oct 12-16. Looks like there's a downtown club called PHX which may be decent, also a country/hiphop (????) bar called Whiskey River which sounds like it has a pretty crazy ladies night.

AZ born and bread here. I head back Scottsdale way about once every other month. The reports of Douche Baggery you mentioned are very true. I'm not positive what causes it but its something to watch out for. The closet thing to the vegas scene you are gonna find is in Old Town Scottsdale. Clubs like Axis Radius and Sued. They are pretty decent but again if you are use to the Vegas scene and or have an extreme aversion to douche bags be prepared.

Otherwise some good bars in the area include Martini Ranch and if you like midgets serving you jello shots Giligans. (how can you say no to a midget with jello shots?).

Thanks Schwegg. Wow - midgets and jello shots. I dunno - I hear midgets get pretty clumsy around drinks.

hey i see on thursday you will be in tempe...you will have a good time because s mill ave is where the action is...check out this place call The Library...I have been there a couple times when visiting the Phx area and it is fun...also check out Rula Bula...that bar is great too.

Excellent - I'll have to check those out. I think my hotel is right near the light rail which can take me right to Mill Ave., if I understand correctly.
