I don't really get the whole vbro thing. It's looks intersting but how can they do it? Are some of the suites at these hotels privately owned then? Just curious?

yes....mgm signature are all privately owned condos that can be rented from either MGM or through the owners or their r/e agents

Yeah. I don't know all the details, but people actually own them. It's totally separate from the hotel itself. They have their own housekeeping and everything. It's kinda confusing because only some of the rooms are privately owned, and some are still run by the hotel. You can get good deals, but I think you lose out on things like room service.

I booked a 3 bedroom condo in Hawaii through VRBO and it was amazing. Looked like a model home. Between the 4 of us staying there, it ended up being like $75 per person, per night. I'm telling you, if you do your research, you can find amazing deals!

mgm will still manage and rent out the condos for the owners for a fee, and right now there are alot of bank owned condos there so im sure mgm is managing them for the banks.

VRBO can be great...I also booked a couple of condos in Hawaii through them. You have to do research-read reviews (guest comments), the fees, the rules-can you cancel? is there a deposit? etc.
As for MGM sig and VRBO, I would NOT stay at any one that doesn't have guest reviews b/c it can vary wildly. Some offer housekeeping and you can use the MGM services like room service etc. Some don't. Some keep up the unit-some don't, usually you can find out from reviews. There are killer deals on there and the signature is great.

It's owned by Remax in Las Vegas...I've used it twice, sister once, DH once, so 4 times with people I know. The rates are lower than the signature's normal rates, they offer housekeeping, and you CAN cancel, with only a $25 fee. Most on VRBO are no cancel within 30 days (you can cancel here up til the day before). I like to have that option in case of an emergency. I really like them, the lady who works for them (Candace) is nice and will respond fast to emails. I've haggled with them before too for a better suite (all the times me and others stayed there, we were upgraded to Penthouse suites and twice upgraded to a 1 bedroom from Junior!) You could even try to work with them on price if you saw a deal on VRBO or something, they might match.
For my next trip in March, I will probably use luxury or look for a kick ass penthouse suite on VRBO....

Stayed at Signature via VRBO a couple of years ago! Great place to stay, quiet, luxurious, great service, connected to MGM and you can use the pools. The suites are all owned by people or companies and they either rent it to you independantly or through the MGM. You contact the owner who will then call in your reservation and you pay the owner! You can even negotiate the price if its last minute! Only thing about it is be careful of the cleaning fee that is tacked on by the MGM, some owners cover it and some owners don't! If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of a casino and want some peace and quiet definately a great place to stay! One other piece of warning, I stayed at MGM recently and i think their service level is dropping quite a bit, during a holiday weekend some of their esclators were not running and their rooms weren't too clean. I think they are putting all their money into CityCenter and are neglecting MGM and Signature. Just my 2-cents

I've been busy online the last few days researching the best places to stay for our family trip next spring to NYC, SD and LV....and just about got it sorted.

The 4 nights we're staying in Vegas i've booked Suites for the Signature and via owners/agents. Was looking for all 4 Suites in Tower 1 and preferably all PH but couldn't manage to find an agent to provide everything.

I've ended up booking 2 PH Jr Suites through one agent, paid a deposit through a secure online method - the remainder to be paid 30 days prior to travel. Within 24 hours I had confirmation from the agent and called the Signature who also confirmed the reservation and specific Suites. The person I'm dealing with is Greg - Signature Rentals, and so far spot on.

The other Suites are a 1BR with connecting Jr Suite in the same tower and for them i've been dealing with Donna - Jet Luxury Resorts. She has also been very helpful. The only difference with these are they only take card details to reserve and don't charge until just before check-in. Because of this they don't actually confirm the booking with the Signature until then so you can't check with hotel for piece of mind. I contacted them and was told that's their normal procedure, which is fair enough, and was told they could make the reservation now with the hotel and send me conformation no. etc if I paid in full. That was no problem so done that and have recieved Signature confirmation.

So far both have been spot on and saved me between 30%-40% off MGM prices. Another plus is you know exactly where you're staying so dont have to worry about being in your last choice tower on the ground floor. Both prices include taxes, resort fee's and departure clean. If we want full daily clean we have to pay $30 but shouldn't need that anyway and will only need replacement towels.

I'll post after the trip to report how everything went.

Yeah i'm sure everything will be fine, just wanted to have confirmation from the actual hotel so don't have to worry about a mess up with double booking or something.

These prices must be out of date then but thats some drop! I saw a clip on youtube of someone showing round a Jr Suite and she also commented that she was told they were going for $500,000, but then she said its probably dropped a bit now being middle of 2009 lol

when they first came out they were going for that, but not they really cant give the places away, the maintanence fees alone are 700/mth, im prob gonna buy one when they hit bottom at 85k
