But, I've never really seen it answered.

Situation is that you set up a table through a host and arrive at the club. He passes you off to a junior host who then walks you through the club to your seat.

What's the tipping protocol here? Also, am I right in being just a little miffed that the guy we've made all that contact with and set things up with just dismisses us like that? I find it kind of off putting that a guy wouldn't even take the time to walk you to your table. It's maybe 5 minutes of his time and given the prices of bottles and how much you end up paying after tipping/tax........am I asking too much?

Last time, I gave the entire tip to the guy who walked us to our table. The first time, I gave it to the host who had set up everything and then he passed us off.

I understand your situation: it really depends, once you build a repoire with a host they almost always walk you to the table on their own, BUTY if the jr host takes over I will always throw them something maybe $50 and give my main host the bigger tip....its just pretty much the corporate ladder structure a jr. earn his due by walking people to their tables while the senior host keeps thing in control and they usually have a constant floe of clients showing up and 5 minutes seems like nothing to us but to leave people waiting whil you do this could piss off some good clients. So to be clear I would tip the main contact the bigger portion give the jr. a little something, and from what I understand they all pool tips anyway, im sure the jr. gets a smaller cut but they still pool at the end of the night. hope this is clear for you!
it's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss

Kind of what I was thinking. Just tough to separate tips when you don't know that you are going to get a second guy sprung on you. What am I supposed to do? Pull out my dough and count off a partial tip for one host and wait to give the rest when I get inside? I feel like a real chump doing that. I prefer to give the entire thing to the guy who seats me. And honestly, I hope he lies to the guy who didn't walk me in about how much I gave him.

what I would do then is give the first host whatever youre comfortable giving him and then keep the rest for the guy the walks you to your table and if its the first guy then just give him the remainder when you get to your table. dont stress out too much about the tipping stuff it works itself out

Agreed. Nothing to stress about, you're giving this guy money... not stealing his wallet.
