Prive's a small loss in my opinion... HOWEVER, that fine against Prive is huge to clubs. Casinos are going to have to be more caring about what goes in within the confines of the clubs now that they, and not the hosts, can be on the hook for any misdeeds.
County Code 8.20.465 requires, among other things, "each holder of an alcoholic liquor license to strictly enforce all the provisions of this code and state statutes." Licensees also "must maintain and conduct all activities upon the premises in a decent, orderly and respectful manner and shall not knowingly permit within or upon the licensed premises any lewd activity, nudity, or topless activity..., disorder, disturbances, or other activities which endanger the health or safety of the patrons...."
Before today, the Business License Department issued three notices of violation against Prive' for:
* Violating County Code 8.20.475 - A security manager stalled agents while they were conducting a compliance inspection. These inspections typically include ensuring that patrons are being carded at the front door, making sure bartenders and servers have their work cards and alcohol awareness cards, checking master lists of employees, etc.
* Violating County Code 8.20.320 - A "subject of inspection," a security manager, interfered with license agents during the course of a routine inspection.
* Violating County Code 8.20.465 - Prive' allowed topless and lewd activity.
My least favorite club of all the majors in town. I lasted about 30 minutes before getting the heck out of there. I can testify to the underage issue. Way too young of a crowd for me.
As far as I can tell, this is the same stuff that happens at all large nightclubs. I spent my fair share of time at Prive and never really saw anything I didn't see everywhere else.
I have a feeling this story will get a lot of attention from other casinos with out side companies running nightclubs on their properties!
Also, I feel sorry the soon to be unemployed folk at Prive. I've met some good people that work(ed) there!
