December Booking

I just cannot wait to get back to my home away from home. I am planning a trip in December, looking at the 16th-20th for my best friend and I. Hopefully going to make this an annual thing now that we are in opposite parts of the state now.

Booking early is obviously the best way to lock in a much cheaper rate as opposed to waiting to the month before but I cannot book the hotel just yet (requires funds that are currently absent...) but I was wondering if anyone knows any good discount sites or discount codes to help take the costs down.

Priceline, Hotwire and all those do not currently have anything better to offer either.

I keep getting emails with promo codes for MGM, but after my last experience, I don't think I want to go that route again. My best friend and I were even looking in to a few dives right off the strip, but I do prefer the security of the casino hotels.

Already the costs are reaching $450 for all five nights, which isn't bad but I think we can do better. So any help would be much appreciated!

I usually find really good deals on lasvegas.com but its also for flight and hotel. I'm also in SD so you should be able to get similar prices to what I'm getting since your in LA

Well, a dive was the last resort. We are looking in to staying at N's grandparents time share, though off the strip it saves a shit load in accommodations.

but you will spend a shitload in cab fare though. look into somehting like the artisan hotel, its new just off the strip and it looks pretty good....no casino or anything but you could prob grab it for 50/nt

i just looked on priceline at those dates and you can grab monte carlo for 70/nt. Ive stayed there numerous times and its a good spot, OR rio which is all suites you can get for 60/nt....I would jump at either of those hotels if I were you

and rio has shuttles to the strip for free for guests so that might be the way to go

Rio is actually not bad, I stayed there in March. The rooms are nicely sized and you can catch a free shuttle to the other Harrah's properties for free, the only thing is they dont run them that late in the night.

Artisan is more expensive than PH or HR.
The timeshare runs a shuttle, so it would only be the cab home that would be an issue. Which is also just a bit further down Flamingo near The Rio, which would be the same amount of taxi cab money.

There may be some deals for December bookings of hotels now, but they really don't start coming out until about September at the earliest. Last year, when I went in December, I snagged an amazing deal at the Palms - rooms for $69/night, plus stay one night, get one free. So for six nights, I only paid for three at a discounted rate (plus did the $20 trick for a fantasy tower room upgrade). I got that deal two weeks before I was to fly out. Good thing about these deals is that MOST (not all, so you do have to be careful) allow for cancellations of at least 72 hours prior to arrival. I probably booked & canceled about four different rooms before getting that Palms deal off fatwallet.com's Las Vegas Hotel deals thread.

I don't even think the pools are open in December, unless there's some indoor pools on the Strip? As for the weather, that was great when it snowed! I loved it - actually experienced my first snow of the season in LV and not in Philly. I thought it was wonderful, but of course I'm a snow bird...
