Vegas Alone

I read AI3X and Keebler's post about being in Vegas solo and having an amazing time. With that said I will be in LVN next Wednesday and Thursday solo awaiting the rest of my friends arrival and was wondering if anyone here had any other experiences or advice about going it solo in Vegas.

Try not to lose your bankroll before your friends arrive as this is a downer for the group.

Experience 1: My bachelor party I decided to go a day early before my friends arrived and promptly lost $800 in about 4 hours.

Experience 2: My buddy got there at 8am and I got there at 8:45am while everyone else was getting there between 2-4pm. My buddy was so anxious to get to the casino's (he goes 2-3x per year like me) that he couldn't wait an extra 45 mins and cabbed to the casino. I show up, he's down $400 in 45 mins. By the next friend #3 of 14 show up, we were collectively down about $2,200.

We had reserves for the weekend but losing that much before anyone shows up is obviously not the best plan.

I say sit by the pool, enjoy some margs and gamble with your friends when they arrive.

Agreed. Remember in my story i was only alone because all my friends didnt feel like going out that night. The key is not being shy and just talking to different people. When your in Vegas everyone just wants to have fun with everyone.

But the big thing is try not to gamble too much. On one of my trips my buddy got out there the day before and by the time we got there he was already down $1000. A lot of people gamble to pass the time, but trust me its not going to work in your favor. Just hit some lobby bars and meet some people. Or if anyone else from this board is out there try meeting up with them! Check out Blibblab's calendar to see if anyone will be.

Yup, echoing everyone else. i had a very similar experience, my friend and I rolled in at like 9am, got checked into the room and went and gambled, he and I each lost like $500, which is still a lot even when I'm in better financial straits now, and it just ruined our weekend because we had to be budget conscious the rest of the time, not to mention by the time my friend showed up at 1030pm we were so fucking wasted and passed out that it took almost 2 hours for us to get out of the room.

Total shitshow if you blow your load too early, especially if you're alone.

I actually love going out solo. You can go where you want, when you want. I have a few friends out there that I hook up with in the evenings. During the day, hang out pool side, make some friends & enjoy the view. I found its much more comfortable to eat alone at buffets rather than restaurants. Walk the strip and check out the hotels & the casinos. Gotta agree with the others, don't gamble away all your money. Find a cheap blackjack table. I've been able to toss 40 bucks down and play for for a couple hours, plus enjoy free booze by doing so. Don't be shy & have fun!

I echo everyone else's thoughts of not gambling your trip away. I didn't do it before people arrived, but 2 days into a 4 day trip with not a dollar to your name and a pissed off girlfriend don't make for a great vacation.

i go to vegas all the time solo, and i'm a chick! like someone said, its nice to be alone because you can do what you want when you want, no waiting on friends to get ready for the night or dealing with them when they don't feel like craps and you do, etc etc. I personally don't mind clubbing or eating alone, though I prefer actual restaurants to buffets. But I would also recommend taking it easy, because it is very easy to lose your wad if you don't have a friend to hold you back. On the other hand, without that friend holding you back you might decide to just bet the purple one and that could be a serious come up, you know?

But they were all very nice and chill.

Thailand alone huh? I feel like if you do one thing out of line there and your alone and they throw you in jail no one will ever see you again, lol.
