This forum could use a off topic section or something like that. I got a question about New York and im sure someone here can help me.

Going there for July 4th weekend with my wife for our anniversary. Staying by Time Square and looking for a nice place to eat and a good club to hit up. Any other must do's or tips are also appreciated. This is our first time to New York.

rock i can help you out....give some more particulars for both. how nice of a resaurant how romantic? is there a budget? what type of food? when you say club do you mean like lounge/club with seating and dancing stuff like that.....there are a million spots here ill give you the go tos and stay away from, to make it as easy a trip as possible.

first bit of advice is when you go out to eat get the hell out of times square. all times square is good for is sight seeing....DO NOT eat or go out to clubs or lounges IN times square you will automatically pay double and triple for food and drinks

Id like to go to a real nice restaurant with a budget around 200-300. Something Italian or a steak place would be good. As for the club/lounge im open for suggestions. It will be on Sunday night as we got plans already for saturday. Whats good on a Sunday? Im not much of a dancer but my wife likes to and if i get enough drinks in me i will give it a shot!

if you want unreal food (and it would impress the wife) go to one if by land two if by sea (look at their website for the menu), located at 17 barrow street down in the village, the ambiance is great. the food is more american than anything else but it is just off the charts. at some point you would have to go to little italy for some great italian go to da'nico on mulberry street. it would be a great spot for lunch on a weekend cause they close the street off to traffic and you can sit outfront and people watch, and lastly I would suggest going to nobu next door (its next door to nobu, hence the name and you do not need ressies you can just swing in they open at 5 or 6) at some point too for great sushi its at 105 hudson street. you def want to see times square one night, but try to spend a significant amount of time dowtown in soho, the village and tribeca. youll find the best shopping, restaurants and bars down there.

as for the party atmosphere on a sunday I would suggest going to a place called Kush its at 191 chrystie street in the east village, this is one of the better places in nyc on a sunday....next I would recommend Home which is on w 27th betwen 10th and 11th, but def do kush first home can be a pain in the ass.

If you have never been to NY, be ready for something totally new. The first time seeing the size of NY city is more overwhelming then seeing the LV Strip for the first time, at least IMO.

IDK which city I like more, prob Vegas, only because its across country for me, NY is a 2.5 hour drive.

Take a walk down 46th heading away from Times Square going west. That's Hells Kitchen. A lot of great restaurants in that area and you can find any type of cuisine there.

you know what its big but its really not. I know it like its the back of my hand at this point. its only about 13 blocks wide and 100 blocks from battery park (furthest south) to around 90th street which is the furthest north you will go, and after years of living/working here it becomes really small.....vegas is alot better for partying and the likes, nyc is a great historical/financial city but for breaking away and partying id suggest vegas everytime

yeah there are alot of restaurants over on 8th ave but they are pretty expensive taking advantage of the tourists!

We had brunch on Sunday at 44 and X over on 44th and 10th. It wasn't bad. Nothing spectacular but I enjoyed it. Our server tended to forget us but other than that I'd probably go back.

I went to 1 if by Land 2 if by Sea 3 years ago. FANTASTIC restaurant with no signs in front (looks like an apartment building). Live piano playing...got appetizers, the Beef Wellington (sig other got something else) and a bottle of wine. Cost was about $350 w/tax and tip.

Also, be prepared for someone to propose. We saw 2 people propose that night before we finished dinner...

yeah its aaron burrs former house, you have to know where it is in order to go, your not just picking it out on a walk....just a brick wall with steps and a door, its my fav restaurant in the city
