vegas virgin going out for ufc100 7/9-13th

This will be my first trip to Vegas (well, since I was 7 but I doubt that really counts. Didn't get much gambling in then). Staying at thehotel and hoping to get a lot of pool time and meet some folks that like to party while I'm out there. Does the atmosphere change any with the big fights going on? Any recommendations for a first timer? Thanks!

I'd say only slightly and only at the hosting hotel and after-party venues. Other than that, typical from my limited experience.
