  • White Tattoos

Anyone have, or know someone with a white tattoo (white ink instead of black). I keep thinking of them more and more, since I don't work in a setting where I can have many tattoos where I really want them (arms especially). Thinking about getting a white tattoo since I like the look of branding. What happens when you get tan in the summer? wondering if it looks weird then. Anyone heard anything about them? good/bad?

I'm not a big fan personally because they look like brands, haha. (funny because thats why you like them)

I don't know anybody with them either. I like white in color tattoos though.

Also, just curious, your work doesn't allow tattoos, but you think branding would go over well? Seems like a tattoo would be more acceptable. Some consider branding to be mutilation. No offense

My work is cool with tattoo's so I have been able to do what I want, but I recently picked up a part-time job (Sears, blah) where you can't have any seen. I am also tossing around the idea for a career change in sign language translating Since you use your hands, its not recommended to have tattoos on your arms/inner arm. Just thinking for the future. Being that it's not as bright as regular tattoos it would be easier to work with.

White in WILL turn yellow after time and look like you have jaundice... You could constantly get it touched up but if you don't it will fade and won't look like you hoped.

The only way I would suggest white is the have a lot of color surrounding it (it will still "POP" when faded compared to next to a skin tone), which doesn't sound like an option for you.

I've got some white in a shark on my bicep, have had it for roughly 15 years, and it sees plenty of sun and I've had not problems with fading or discoloration. It's organic ink though as opposed to standard tattoo ink. If you do decide to do it make sure you get it done with organics. They hold their color and brightness quite well.

*Disclaimer- Organic ink is the only 'organic' thing that I promote. I do not wear sandals while eating granola and hugging bunny rabbits. Nor do I drive a Prius, own an iPhone strictly to blog from, or play the bongos. I would buy a car that ran on spotted owls before I would buy one that ran on 'veggie'. I leave the heated seat on for the toilet all day long because my comfort is more important than my electric bill. I have single handedly caused the extinction of 12 species and the meltdown of 3 large icebergs. I was at Chernobyl AND 3 mile island right before the 'oops'. But I DO enjoy tofu. =)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Yea, the biggest problem is what it will look like after fading...deff don't want to look yellow-ish.
