  • When to tip?

When do you guys like to tip? There seems to be personal preferences. Some of my friends do it at the end of the night so they can give more to those who were more helpful. Others like to do it at the beginning of the night because they feel it gets them "on our side" faster.

Personally, I do a bit of both. I have never tipped the doorman when I have had bottle service, nor have I ever encountered one that looks like he expects it, although I have seen others do it. I usually tip the host who seats us right after we are seated and they have come back and checked on us all night. I usually wait until the end of the night to take care of the bouncers/security guys. The servers and busboy gratuities are included with the bill.

    What do you guys prefer?

in light of the latest tipping scandal i think shakedown tipping is done for now..i personally have never experienced that, and would probably just ignore any service worker who expected an underserved tip...as many times as ive been to vegas, and i will be there this coming weekend, the one sure thing is, even the average clubs are better than the best club in most cities, so what if you are going to a club on its off night, you will probably get better service and have just as good a time...vegas is what you make of it, every one there has a hand out, but you have the power to decide who gets what... tip for good service, tip less for bad service...its just that simple! when do i tip, when the partys over or when the various worker has completed their task...remember, they are serving you, not the other way around...so you actually have to be served to know if you should tip large or small..i never tip the doorman either, if they expect a tip, then they should get a different job where their job performance can be measured...

I will take care of my vip at the various clubs right off the bat, word spreads when people tip, then I will tip the servers throughout the night with the largest portion coming in the end. again when you show that you are wiling to take care of people the service gets better. at the end of the night I will always take care of the security that was assigned to my table, its only fair!!
it's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss

Well to be honest, the host usually doesn't do much other than greet you and then you dont see much of them. Usually around 50-100 is plenty in my opinion. Remember, you have to tip your waitress and sometimes security. Usually only tip security if they bring some hot ladies over to our table, which usually happens. "take care of who takes care of you!"

Good tip! I agree with this ... make sure the host doesn't rip you off as well. I know some hosts try to get as much money from you as possible. Get the people who help the most ...

I might give the doorman a slight tip ($50) and the VIP host about $50 - $200 depending on the table location.
Then throughout the night I try tip the busboys and security when they are around and doing their job; i.e. security staying behind and watching the ladies purses when they hit the dance floor; escorting them to the rest rooms and cutting in line, etc.; also tip busboys as they clear the table, light cigarettes, etc.
Show them you appreciate their service and they shall return. It's all about respect.

Host I tip after he seats us.
Security I tip just after the Host leaves and the server takes are order. Security can help with a lot. So tip early.
Server I tip at the end based on what we order.
Busboy I tip the first time he comes to our table after we get are drinks.
Doorman I tipped once but havn't since then, he didn't seem appreciative.

With the girls I like to play a game called just the tip just to see how it feels.
