  • Collared Shirts/ Tshirts

    Hi guys,

Coming from Australia to Vegas this Thursday for 6 epic nights, can't wait.. Just wanted some opinions on collared shirts/tshirts. This will be my 6th trip to Vegas and I have generally found the MUST wear a collared shirt to a club a little overstated. I personally hate collared shirts and only wear them if its absolutely neccessary.

It almost seems that if you have nice shoes, u can get away with a nice t-shirt, if your wearing a collared shirt u may be able to get away with more casual shoes.

I would probably consider myself a professional clubber over the past ten years and have risked wearing a t-shirt to some Vegas clubs and have gotten in. In fact, it has never been mentioned by a bouncer. I always make sure they are a nightclub type tshirt, ie Armani Exchange, Abercrombie, and subtle Affliction designs on previous trips.

In the past I have gotten in wearing a tshirt to LAX, Body English (i realise its no longer) and Pure.

Last trip I didnt risk a tshirt and went with a collared shirt at XS and The Bank on a Sunday.

    So what about this trip:

Tryst on a Thursday???? Is it must wear a collar or can i run wth armani type tshirts?

Marquee Friday and Saturdays??? I havent been there yet so not sure.

LAX? Guessing i can risk a tshirt?

XS? Assuming must wear a collar??

As much help on these specific nights and any other info would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Im glad you brought this up, because its been bugging me a lot lately. I hate how the Tao group makes you dress like your going to court to get into their clubs.

I have never had an issue with any club letting me in until ceaser got put in place at Tao as the door guy. He has denied me twice for having designer sneakers on (creative recs and true religion).

I feel like a club should be a party, and this type of dress code isn't needed. I can wear them into XS, the #1 club in the world and not to tao on a Thursday.

my designer kicks cost more than a 20 to 30 dollar pair of black dress shoes

These clubs are cool with a "cool guy look"
XS, Tryst, Surrender, Blush, Pure, LAX, Gallery, Chateau, Vanity, Moon, Rain and my club, CATHOUSE

Yeh, it frustrates me as well, its just coming out of winter here in Australia and now im going into 90 degree heat in vegas. I do NOT feel comfortable in collared shirts, lol. I reckon, if you look good, you feel good, then you pick up girls! and i prefer the designer tshirt look!

so your saying all those clubs you mentioned are cool with nice clubbing tshirts?

Gotta remember, if you're 10 dudes all rockin t-shirts and NOT getting bottles, they'll find any reason to deny you.

Bottles or good hookups/contacts makes dress code much more flexible.

While I agree with your thoughts on this Darryll, I'll play devil's advocate for a moment and mention that it's a slippery slope. It might be asking a bit much of the doormen to try and gauge which kicks are clean enough/which jacket t-shirt combo looks cool. A simple dress code like Tao seems to adhere to makes things easy for everyone, and keeps the crowd itself looking good.

I consider many of my AOD friends on here to be 'cool guys' and from the pics of MayOD, skinny ties and/or a vest still rule the roost.

I know it's cyclical, and that Las Ramblas never got built, but I don't think it's totally bad that some clubs are keeping male guests on their toes.

              +1

I remember going to Safari's in TJ a lot before I was 21. No dress code there. It was a party. But not a party I'd drop 1k for a table at.

I think the dress code at some places is snobby.. but I like that. I also like places that if you see someone in a t-shirt you think "that guy has 'fuck-you' money" not "that guy doesn't know how to dress well".

All that being said, to the OP: If you look like you belong in the club you are going to and/or have a table, there won't be problems.

Rocking the Vest tie combo is pretty comfortable to me ps. Affliction makes awesome boardshorts for the pool!

I think the posters in this thread would do fine in t-shirts... the problem that I can see would come once 'clubbing friendly' t-shirts became the norm... next thing you know you would see people trying to get in wearing shitty Kohls or Walmart t-shirts and would complain that they look the same as the guy that just went inside wearing an Affliction Tee. I've seen it happen at Voodoo, couple of young hispanic dudes went in, dressed neatly in designer tees. The doorguy (Hispanic also) stopped the next guy who was wearing ratty dirty Levis and an old harley davidson tee, and even offered this dude free admission if he would just go change. This harley guy threw a fit, accused the doorguy of being racist and letting onloy 'his kind' in, etc. My wingman is a harley guy, and stepped in to save the poor doorguy abuse.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that no matter where the bar is set, folks will always try to skim underneath it. Some of us would do so in a tasteful and acceptable manner, but then there are the yahoos out there who try to fuck it up for the rest of us.

                    some good points made.

We are always very respectful to bouncers, and I think this goes a long way into them not finding a reason to deny u entry.

what about marquee? can i get away with a nice tshirt?
