  • Is North Strip Area worth the trouble?

I've been to Vegas six times now, and have never made it further north than Wynn Encore. A buddy told me that the north part of the strip is pretty boring and mostly for older people, families, and non-partyers. He said that anything north of Encore is completely worthless, and that you can't even really consider it part of the Vegas strip. Is that a good description, or would it be worth my time to check it out sometime?

Stratosphere has some entertaining rides at the top if that's your sort of thing. Partywise it's pretty dead though. Hookers flood the bars at the Sahara about 9PM
Never offer an open bar to a Wisconsinite... =)

Passed Wynn is basically off strip to me now. I visit Circus Circus when I'm with kids, and don't even go to stratosphere anymore. Riviera is completely dead and the only reason to go is when friends want to take pictures of the bronze girls in the front. You're really not missing much. Check it out if you're bored and have some time.

I agree with the north strip being dead. I'm a huge fan of downtown. It's cheaper gambling, lounges with no cover, freemont st experience, Neon lights, and some really cool independent bars on the east side of freemont.

Nobody ever seems to mention the Hilton. Is that north strip casino also irrelevant?

I stayed there back in '04 since it was right next to the convention center. There wasn't a poker room at that time (although I have heard they added one), the restaurants were sub par, the rooms, while clean, were dated, and the entertainment was Barry Manilow. The location was great for the proximity to the convention center, and the prices were cheap. However, these days you can find better accomodations closer to the action for the same $$ (if not less!) Just my $0.02
