Staying at the golden nugget is pretty cool, if you like the old Vegas feel. But also if your rolling with less money. There are a lot of cool bars in old Vegas and a really fun scene. If you want to gamble you'll easily find $3 craps and five dollar roulette and black jack.

If you want to be near the clubs stay at the trop.

Stay away from Golden Nugget & Fremont all together. I was just there last week. My wife always wanted to see the larger overhead screen. Well, once we got there she wanted to leave ASAP. Its like walking in a trailer park. Tons of backwoods looking people drinking from those oversized plastic cups that hang from thier necks. Stay on the strip and never leave. And man up! U gotta go to the clubs. thats where all the ladies are.

One other tip. You should try Planet Hollywood Towers. Get a 1 bedroom suite. It can sleep 10 people (on couches and floor) for sure and is probably same price as 2 rooms at Trop. It has a large living room with a huge couch, full kitchen, a f*ck chair in the bedroom, washer & dryer for ur clothes, and a hot tub in case someone gets lucky. The thing is huge. bigger than most apartments.

the thing is, if the OP is golfing, chances are they don't need to cut every corner.

love downtown, love fremont street, and i like mixing in a sprinkle of downtown at the beginning of a trip. downtown cocktail/griffen/vangaurd, is a sweet crawl.
but if it's just me and my golf buddies i'm going tropicana over nugget every time.

Downtown cocktail room is awesome, vanguard, griffen and insert coins all really cool.
