  • Tropicana vs Golden Nugget

    Hey everyone,

Love this site and I've been lurking forever. I'm coming to Vegas with five other friends all late 20's (four of which have never been). We are all married/engaged/whatever and don't plan on going to the clubs. We mostly like to drink and go to the pool (maybe golf)during the day and drink and gamble at night.

I have been researching and I think the two and three bedroom suites throughout Vegas are out of reach for our budget. We will probably get two rooms somewhere.

Also, do you recommend cabana rentals for five or six guys? I have never rented one before. Is there rental fee's or is there just a food and bev minimum? Or both?

Any opinions on Tropicana vs Golden Nugget for my crowd?

    Thanks!

Definitely Tropicana if I had to choose between those two. Top advantage is location- on the Strip, as opposed the the grimy downtown which you want to avoid like the plague.

You might be able to find some deals at places like the Mirage or Treasure Island.

And even if you're married/in a relationship, doesn't mean you can't go out dancing and partying!

          Have fun!

THey had some serious good sales. Do they room come with flat screens?

Believe it or not, I stayed at Stations on Sahara and that place was leeeeegit! Not bad for one night where you are spending time changing and pregaming for a club.

Thanks for all the responses. I didn't expect such a unanimous majority. I understand the pro's for the Trop but is there any particular reason everyone is so negative on the Golden Nugget?

Also, am I not understanding the cabana policy correctly at Golden Nugget or is it a rip-off? Tropicana is $250ish min food and bev which is fine for us because we would probably spend that much drinking by the pool anyway. Golden Nugget is a rental fee, so you have to pay that and then for all your drinks? Am I understanding that correctly?

                          Thanks again.

It's just so inconvenient to be downtown. And you're not close to that much you'd want to see probably.

Yah I've stayed at Golden Nugget and their pool itself is super sick with the shark tank and layout and all, however, I wouldn't say it would be worth your money to rent a cabana. Also, you'd be getting more of an oldschool Vegas trip rather than the "what happens in vegas stays in vegas" trip. Even if you're not looking to rage like a maniac the people watching and the lights and energy still make it worth it to stay on the strip. I stayed at the Trop a month or so ago and was pleasantly suprised by it.
