4 day itinerary advice needed

Hi Guys,

there are 4 of us flying to Vegas from Sydney for UFC 189. We land at midday on Thursday 9th July - Monday 13th July.

The UFC event is on Saturday afternoon/Evening, so we arent looking for a pool party that day. but we are open to suggestions for the best places to party on Thursday, Friday & Sunday. Mainly daytime pool parties.

We are planning on staying at the Cosmo, because of its location and apparently they have good atmospheres at their pools.

We are keen to check out ECB and Drais, as well as MDC.

So far they have only released the DJ line up as follows;

Drais - Sunday D Wayne
ECB - Friday TJR / Sunday Lil Jon
MDC - no DJs confirmed

Ive never heard of TJR, will he draw a good crowd on Friday?

Also, is it worth us just staying around our hotel pool (cosmo) on thursday when we arrive?

open to suggestions!

Saturday & Sunday will be ur biggest pool days...my preference is always Wet/Sat & EBC/Sun, you should be able to do a day party & your UFC event later...keep in mind that Cosmo has the low key Bamboo pool & MDC is at the Cosmo. Thursday will be a slow pool day. As a Cosmo guest you should be able to get into MDC ost likely free on that Friday.

thanks for the tips. We definitely want to do ECB, but the choices are TJR, Dillon Francis or Lil Jon. none of those are that appealing to be honest. who will get the best crowd?

The UFC event starts at 5pm on saturday so might be a bit of s stretch to do a pool party that day, especially if we are paying.

Maybe MDC on Friday if we can get in free
and Encore Beach on sunday, although its Lil Jon and im not a hip hop fan.

Would it be worth checking out Drais pool on thursday when we arrive or will there be more action at the Cosmo?

If I were choosing completely based on the DJ I would definitely choose TJR. He's good, he's pretty unknown due to what seems to be a lack of focus on PR, but I'd think he'd have the best music. I wouldn't say he's going to really draw much of a crowd, but as long as MDC or Drai's doesn't have a really big name EBC will draw the crowd for him.

Getting out of a pool party, getting back to your hotel room, getting dressed for the fight, and getting there by 5pm makes EBC pretty much not an option for Saturday, and I'm right there with you on avoiding Lil Jon.

I'd probably do:

Thursday Day - Cosmo Pools (Bamboo/Boulevard)
Thursday Night - EBC at Night

Friday Day - EBC
Friday Night - Marquee or Omnia

Saturday Day - MDC (leaving early)
Saturday Night - Marquee or Omnia

Sunday Day - Drai's
Sunday Night - XS Nightswim

Agree with Max re TJR. Solid DJ with very solid sets you can hear on soundcloud.

May want to look at Tao and Liquid also for Friday. Smaller venues but very solid parties.

appreciate the advice, maybe we will wait to see who MDC and Drais announce for friday DJs and decide closer to the time.

I Think staying at MDC on saturday is the best idea as we want to be close to our hotel room to get freshened up for the UFC event.

Is it worth checking out a pool party on Thursday or should we just save ourselves for Thursday evening?

I'd say just hit the hotel pool, always good to meet people staying at your hotel and the Thursday pool parties aren't exactly impressive compared to what you'll see Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

We have about 20 people going that weekend, as well. But, only 6 of us are heading to the UFC fight, as well. Barring a horrible or overhyped DJ, we're likely doing EBC. But, I think you get more bang for your buck at Drais. Just personal opinion & taste.

Best music, TJR. Best crowd, Dillon Francis. I've seen TJR live (not in Vegas) and he's awesome, his sets are really good. Honestly I'm not sure why he's not more out there household name type but he's good. Dillon Francis I personally like a lot, but much different music style than TJR in my opinion. He gets the ladies dancing though that's for sure.

and I completely agree with raltam about getting more for your money at drais - and drais new pool is really nice.

edit: I read you're staying at Cosmo. I would do MDC on presale for saturday and spend the day there until 2:30-3 then walk back to your room and get ready. Saturday is a major pool day and one of the top places is at your hotel, no way you should be missing out on it.
