EBC host contact? Liquid bad reviews on yelp?

Hi there. I am looking at doing a pool party this Friday May 8. No bottle service, just a place to drink and dance in the sun for a few hours. I was looking at mostly at Liquid because I've heard here it's a good party on Fridays, and they have free champagne for ladies until 1 pm. Does anyone know why the reviews on yelp are so bad? People say they are really strict with rules and won't even let you have a towel unless you buy a daybed.

I would like to go to EBC--I think Diplo is there on Friday--none of the other dayclubs seem to have a big dj on that day. I can get on the guestlist at Palms Ditch Friday, daylight, Liquid or Drai's (also Marquee but I don't feel quite "cool" enough). Is there a host at EBC where 1 girl 1 guy could get in free early on Friday?

Any info appreciated. Also-if any girls are hanging out poolside that day, I'd love some company. My husband will accompany me, but I'm sure he'd rather let me find some friends and go inside and play BJ.

EBC has really unpredictable guest listing. Usually on Sundays you can get girls free, guys free or $20-$30, and I wouldn't be surprised about seeing that on a slow Friday, but Diplo is kind of a wild card in how many people he would draw. So perhaps you could find a promoter willing to do an even ratio at EBC on Friday, but I wouldn't count on it, and the guy will probably have to pay something.

I wouldn't be worried about fitting in at Marquee, it's large enough where usually no one will feel out of place. I'd skip Palms and Daylight, and have seen no reason to go to Liquid with so many better options. I'd probably do Drai's or Marquee, or just decide paying at bit more is worth going to EBC especially if you haven't been yet.

Plenty of thirsty promoters on Instagram you can hit up. Friday's would be the best bet for guestlisting at EBC.

People don't like wasting money when they don't have to? I get that this forum is usually frequented by people who have no problem spending $300+ each event, but I usually get in everywhere I'm trying to go free, drink beforehand, use reentry to drink outside the club, and spend almost nothing. For a couple it's usually worth trying to guest list, since it often works.

The one time I actually bought tickets I ended up getting an offer for free entry from one of my promoters anyway, so that was $60 I didn't need to spend. I'd setup guest listing at Marquee or Drai's, then contact an EBC promoter, if EBC works out great, if it doesn't you've still got a tier 1-1.5 pool to go to.

There's nothing wrong with Liquid, and Yelp reviews for Vegas clubs should be taken with an entire ton of salt. Anyone can get a towel at a day club. It's not like they want people walking around wet after they get out of the pool.

But is it really worth going to Liquid these days with all the options out there? Is there anything that sets it apart? I can see doing it if you are staying at Aria, but otherwise I've just never seen the draw. Back in the day they seemed to bring in some DJ talent, but every time I've looked recently it's been lackluster.

Yes...this. I felt bad admitting it, but I gotta say, I'm a bit cheap. I will spend the money on drinks and food and gambling, but if I can get in free, I'd really like to do that!

You guys have given me so much great info! So Liquid is out--I will guestlist Drais or Marquis and try to find a promoter for EBC. Whichever we don't do on Friday, we'll do on Saturday.

The only promoter I've ever used is Chris Hornak, who is so great and reliable--love him! But he doesn't have EBC available. I did look on Instagram and there are a bunch of people that say to text them to get on the list, but I know I've been warned that a lot of promoters are not legit. Does anyone have someone they've used for EBC? I did email the venue a week ago and got no response.

On a related note, last year after a big day of partying, I got a text from VIPforfree (which no longer exists, I think) saying they could pick me up in the limo and take me to XS nightswim--like right then. I told them no thanks, I needed to go to bed. And I've been kicking myself ever since! Still never been to Wynn/Encore at all-not casino, nightclub or dayclub. I think it's time!

Never look at Yelp for clubs. It's all bad reviews from people who have no idea how clubs work.

I see the "don't pay attention to Yelp" thing a lot, but as someone who frequents clubs and knows how it works, the scores seem to line up pretty well with opinions on this forum.

Omnia 4.5
XS 4.0
Marquee 3.5
Light 3.5
Hakkasan 2.5
LAX 2.5

That ordering looks pretty good to me. Omnia, the newest is on top, XS is right under it, Marquee and Light are still solid, and Hakkasan is considered of the same quality as LAX because of the high prices, long lines, small space, and bad ratio that pretty much everyone without a table complains about while LAX is objectively terrible but at least it's usually free.

Ok, so Rehab is too high, but that can be explained by a bit of demographic bias on Yelp along with Rehab still being one of the only pools for hip hop on a regular basis. Otherwise everything else looks about right, EBC is first, Marquee and Wet tied for second, Tao Beach is a bit high but it's been good value for money for awhile now, and Daylight and Liquid at the bottom.

So while some of the reviews are clearly ignorant of how clubs and pools should work, I'd say the Yelp reviews can help give a general sense of how people generally perceive each venue. Scores themselves never tell the whole picture, but I'd say those scores match surprisingly well with the opinions on this forum.

Don't believe yelp, it's the worst. Look at reviews on here. There's free towels and even free water at liquid. You just can't keep towels in the pool deck, you don't have to get a spot to get towels. Ebc is always solid Saturday and Sundays. Hit or miss sometimes when I've been on Fridays.
