MDC questions...

Going to MDC on Friday with 6 guys. Was offered 500 min for a small daybed. I know it's a small price to pay for a spot, but nobody has ever been to a dayclub before. We are also a little worried about how good a party it will be on a Friday. It has to be at a certain level of fun to continue paying $15 a drink otherwise our money is probably best spent elsewhere. Weather looks good at this point. I have a couple questions.

1. If we buy presale and the club has some open chairs available can we negotiate that number down?
2. Are you basically at the bar or in the pool if you don't have a spot or is there room to setup without a bed?
3. Can anyone confirm is a small daybed just 2 lounge chairs?

Here's my logic. 6 guys x $20 entry each is $120. 4 drinks each x $15 is $60/person which is $360 total. Buying food while there?? Call it $75 total. Entry and drinks and food right here is $555 and you have no real estate to hang at. Now if you add shots or drink more than 4 drinks....Oh yeah, want to buy a girl a drink? See where this is going $$ wise?

The $500 is a food and beverage minimum and you have a place to hang. Our group's rule of thumb is price x 40% is the total. So $500 is $700 all in after taxes, gratuity and such.

So for $117/person you can get a small daybed and eat and drink $500 of stuff or spend $92.50/person based on food, drinks and entry I used as an example with no place to relax/chill etc.

Can you talk them down...maybe...maybe not. You can roam around and meet others. Can you just park somewhere? Not really unless you get there early enough to get poolside.

$500 is about as cheap as a daybed gets at any pool on a weekend. Fridays start slow, but pick up as the day goes on since it's a travel day.

Without a daybed you are at the edge of the pool, in the pool, or standing. Not always a bad thing, but it really comes down to how much you are planning on eating drinking and if you plan on buying anyone drinks. If that adds up to anywhere near $500 I think it's better to go with the quote you've gotten.

You are probably going to have to go to a lower tier of pool party if you want sub-$500 daybeds. Buying pre-sale tickets would cost $132 so then you'd be betting that you'd be able to get a daybed for $300 or less which I don't think is impossible, but nowhere near guaranteed. I've been to MDC on a Friday and it wasn't what I would call amazingly packed, but it was still a fun time.

Options (Most costly to least costly):
EBC - much higher minimum, great party

MDC - very reasonable $500, chance of great party, chance of a good party

MDC - $132 on pre-sale, chance of a daybed at a lower minimum, chance of having to deal with lockers or just throwing your stuff wherever

Tao Beach - maybe a negotiated $200, but most likely not a better party than MDC

Hotel Pool - No minimum, but you are going to have to pay for drinks, so how much are you really saving?

Anyone know what the dress code is @ MDC regarding baseball/college hats? I saw on their page they are not allowed, but it looks like people are wearing them there in pictures online.

Hats can be hit or miss honestly. I usually don't bother with a hat. It's just one more thing to keep track of.

Went to MDC on a Friday and had a table. Most of my buddies wore hats no problems at all. Some have said if you have a table you are good. I have only been the one time.

I always show up for LEMA so I did MDC on a Friday two weeks ago and I was surprised at how many people showed up. Obviously not as much as on a Sat/Sun, but still a good party.

The general rule regarding dayclub attire is don't give them a reason to enforce it. In other words, don't look/act like a douche and they will usually ignore baseball caps / tanks / etc.

Sorry to hijack but with a Cosmo room key you are able to get in on Fridays for free.

How many people from the room can enter for free? Does free entry still apply on the Fridays before holiday weekends ?

Anytime I've used my Cosmo room card to get in either MDC or Marquee for free, it has been limited to 2 people total. I don't know if that is a hard and fast rule but it has been my experience.

if we are staying at the Cosmo, do we get free entry to MDC all weekend or only on certain days?

I stay at the Cosmo every time I come to Vegas and I'm always given a hard time about keycard entry to MDC. I've had keycards for both me and my brother and then if they're in douche mode at the door they'll say 1 male only per room. Has someone actually gotten 2 guys in one one keycard?

Chuck, I think last time I did this on a Friday night at Marquee I was in a group of 3M/1F and we used the free entry for 2 guys so we could pay the lower cover for the girl. Of course we were also drunk enough that we had to look our room number up on our phones so I could be mistaken about that. We definitely used it for 2 entries, though.
