Headliners start?

I am a total noob when it comes to the Vegas day/night club scene. Went to Hakkasan last year and got in free with 3 girls. I think they met up with a host or something while they were walking the strip. I didn't experience any wait but know there can be.
This year we want to hit either EBC or Wet to see Guetta or Aoki.
I am curious

• for these two clubs mentioned above do we need to contact a host or get on the guest list?
• Can we show up and just pay the cover to get in?
• What is the typical wait if we do the above?
• And the biggest question i have - if the doors open at 11AM - What time can we expect the headliner to start?

We are also thinking about Hardwell or Garrix on Saturday night, but our flight leaves early enough we aren't sure if we want to pull an all nighter...

for nightclubs open around 11pm with headline djs on around 1am staying open till around 5am

Do we NEED to get there at 11am? With so much to do in Vegas burning 8 hours in one spot could be hard to sell to the rest of the group.
this year the group will be 2 guys 2 girls.

No you don't need to be there at 11am, but there are benefits to arriving early. No matter what method of entry you are using, getting in is fastest earlier in the day. If you aren't getting a daybed, table, or cabana, space along the edge of a pool is the first to go at a pool party, so if you come early you can stake out a spot.

For an even ratio group, a group with the same number of girls as guys, you are only going to be able to guest list at a limited selection of pools Friday and Sunday, and an even more limited selection Saturday. You should contact a promoter or host that works for the specific clubs you are interested in, but for a group of 2 guys and 2 girls you are a lot less likely to be able to be put on a guest list than just a group of girls. EBC in the past has done guest lists for even ratio groups on Sunday and I'm pretty sure Wet Republic previously has done one on Fridays, but these things change often.

Typically guest lists have a closing time, a time when either the line is closed or it stops being free entry. For different venues that time varies but typically it's between noon and 2pm. Right when a pool is opening these lines are usually very short, but they can get quite long closer to the list closing time and the closer you cut it you run the risk of being stuck in line past the list closing time.

If you decide not to do guest listing, the next best method is presale tickets purchased as early as possible. These are purchased through wantickets or directly from the club and usually have guaranteed entry up until a certain time, and essentially priority entry above GA after that.
