I tried searching but couldn't find anything. My first time going to EBC with bottle service I had no clue which host to tip. I booked my table via email with one person. At the check in line I met another person. A third person walked me through the area very slowly (maybe wanted a tip?) and then when we got to the last set of couches he pointed to the one for us which I didn't want. I then said I wanted one two over and he called over a fourth person. I tipped that guy and he openly said, in front of the other guy, that he would try to "use" the tip to get us the couch we wanted. He came back and we were all set. How was this actually supposed to go down? I'm not cheap, I just had no clue who, out of the four people, I should have tipped to get what I wanted. I'd prefer to go in with better knowledge this time around so any advice would be helpful.

In the future I would try your hardest to book through someone on this forum.
You usually tip the person that puts your name in for the table and walks you there.
In your multi-person mission it sounds like you did the right thing but it should have been the person the host in your email told you to meet."The man on the top of the mountain didn't fall there"

Forgive my ignorance here.... to host tips are nothing more than a glorified house pool?Originally posted by DeX View Postthe tip goes to the podium regardless of who you give it to
This is HIGHLY disappointing as when I tip a guy from giving exceptional service (ie the hosts that have rockstar reps here)...I genuinely hate if they're having to chop that with captain dickbag who's done half a damn thing....
this would NEVER discourage me from tipping full bore for excellent service... it just makes me sad if true.Wedding @ Riviera '06 • March Madness @ Mandalay Bay May 2010 • Bachelor Party @ Palms Jul 2013 • GF's Birthday @ Cosmopolitan Oct 2013

i guess you could say its the thought that counts. hosts recognize when you are tipping THEM for the service they are providing you. that's why the hosts who have great reps here go out of their way regardless if they get to keep the whole tip or not, hell they go the extra mile even when they don't get tipped.Originally posted by msavard View PostForgive my ignorance here.... to host tips are nothing more than a glorified house pool?

I've found unless you tip the dude you deal with at the ropes they will sit you in a shit location. had this recently as Anthony K doesn't really do the mornings as he's a "closer". tipped the host who walked us in when we got inside and the money spoke. went from the corner of the club to the centre

I'm guessing (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the club managers know which hosts are bringing in the bigger tips, right? So while the host may not get the immediate benefit of the dollar value of your tip, it helps them overall to become more "highly coveted" in the hosting industry?Originally posted by DeX View Posti guess you could say its the thought that counts. hosts recognize when you are tipping THEM for the service they are providing you. that's why the hosts who have great reps here go out of their way regardless if they get to keep the whole tip or not, hell they go the extra mile even when they don't get tipped.

This seems like one of the basic ladder climbing methods.Originally posted by MikeK32 View PostI'm guessing (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the club managers know which hosts are bringing in the bigger tips, right? Consistent table customers
Consistent big tips
Consistent girls on guest list
Consistent guys walked in for tip
To me those would be the key performance indicators for job progression."The man on the top of the mountain didn't fall there"

This was my experience as well. The host I booked through wasn't there when I got there so I had to figure out who to give it to. Does the guy with the clipboard that you first check in with decide where you are going and the person walking you there is just taking you where he said? I would think giving the first person the tip would ensure I get the exact location I wanted.Originally posted by OmarLittle View PostI've found unless you tip the dude you deal with at the ropes they will sit you in a shit location. had this recently as Anthony K doesn't really do the mornings as he's a "closer". tipped the host who walked us in when we got inside and the money spoke. went from the corner of the club to the centre
