question about EBC and hosting

a friend and i are looking to grab multiple tables at Encore Beach Club for a bachelor party. our group is 20 dudes, so we were pleasantly surprised when a friend of a friend of a friend offered said he could get us a reservation through a host.

our hesitation stems from the fact that the we were asked to provide the credit card in the "pre-authorization hold form" (to be charged in the case of cancellation); and the reservation (on the form) is listed under another name (friend of the guy, both of whom aren't in our party).

is having the reservation under a name of a person not going into the club common? trustworthy?

Contact Anthony first and see what he can do since he works directly for EBC. Solid reputation on the board and great feedback.

Personally never had to lay down a card before showing up so my thought is the hook up is a 3rd party host which is why they need to pre authorize in order to guarantee they get paid whether or not you show.

EBC is known to take CC holds for long weekends and I have sometimes seen it done for Lilly pads, but I agree with kp3205 Anthony is a solid host he will set you straight connect with him first.

Anthony is the answer - he will ask you to do a CC hold if it's a busy weekend. Although we didn't do it this time (IDW...ran out of time) and it all went fine.

Yea, prob going through an Indie. If so, you're risking overpaying on your min or getting a worse location for that min. If you're not familiar with who you are working with then go with a direct host.

I just set up a table for my fiancee's bachelorette with Anthony. He was awesome.

You can cancel 6 days prior without penalty. Within 5 days to 72 hours you will be charged half of quoted table min and issued a gift certificate in that amount good for a year. Inside 72 hours you are charged half with no credit or refund.

I believe the CC Pre-Auth locks in you table min

Ya I'm setting up at EBC for 8/2/14 through Trevor P. and he had the club send me the same pre auth form. Maybe this is a new standard at EBC?
