  • July 4th weekend - your thoughts on my plan

    Hi all,

I'm heading to Vegas with two friends for 4th of July weekend. We want to hit up both day/night parties on the 4th, 5th and 6th.

Usually, when we go out there, we tend to take it easy on Friday...that usually meant a few buckets of beer by the pool and no daybed. Do you think that's a bad strategy since the 4th is on a Friday this year? (my better judgment is telling me to just get a daybed on Friday).

Our budget is around 1000 F&B per event. I've gotten a few quotes, wondering what you think about these (and if you have any other suggestions that might be in our price range)

    Friday - Ditch - $1000 for a daybed ; Wet Republic - $1500 for a daybed
Saturday - Marquee - $2000 for a daybed (would really like to get this lower if possible)
    Sunday - EBC - $1800 for a daybed

I've been doing this for a long time, but never with such a small team. It's a lot more complex when you only have 3 people splitting the bill!

I see you're a vet at this, so you already know what to expect at Ditch...I usually do Ditch on Fridays too, but I'm switching it up this year...no way I'd not do Wet on Saturday (especially since its Calvin Harris) tho it'll hurt you in the pocket I'm guessing...our schedules are similar except I'm picking MDC for Friday and Wet for Sat.

That Ditch quote seems High. I know it's the Fourth but I'm telling you, it's not that busy here in town as a MDW or even a big fight/Cinco etc.. . I've down this weekend a few years and it's Fools Gold. It's the same if not less busy at some of these venues (unless it's a really huge DJ). So, wait a bit and see if you can get a 500-750 min somewhere, that should be doable. Then you should have more in budget for Wet.

On the same note, got quoted 1300 min for EBC for the 4th which has Macklemore playing. Do y'all think that is high and do you think it will be crowded?

I thought it sounded high too. I did IDW too a few years ago and thought the same thing -- definitely not as crazy as MDW. I'm sure the fact that it's 115 degress in the shade doesnt' help IDW in drawing a big crowd.

Good to hear I'm not the only one thinking that. As you say...maybe I should wait to get these quotes. It is probably too early to start doing this!

I meant more in the budget for Marquee. I think that's the one that is spot on prob because it's Saturday. Ditch you should get that lower and maybe a lily pad at EBC closer to 1k, not sure, but I use Jai Shaun there, have since I started in the biz and he hooks up my guys pretty well. Anthony K is a good guy also, I'm sure either one can help you get everything in line and stay in budget.
