  • Seeking Las Vegas Advice!

    Hi veterans of Las Vegas,

First off… I just want to say how lucky you veterans are to either live in Vegas or frequent it enough to know all the ins and outs. Lucky bastards!

My best friend and I have booked our flight and hotel to Las Vegas for June 19 to June 23. We are both Canadians from Toronto and are looking for advice from Las Vegas veterans in order to have the best possible time ever! It is our first time coming to Vegas so we’re really excited!

Below is some information about us to get things started:

    • We are both 29 years young
    • We are staying at The Mirage from June 19 to 23
    • We are interested in pool parties, and nightclubs

We’ve done some preliminary research (please see the attached picture) and would like advice/tips on how to make this experience EPIC or simply avoid the pitfalls and headaches that noobs make!

Also, should we buy pool party and nightclub tickets in advance? Will the bouncers honour it? How early should we arrive to the pool parties and nightclubs in order to get in? We know it must be difficult for two guys to get in without girls so please help!

    Thank you for reading!

EDIT: Just want to add that we are open to suggestions for other DJs/Venue if the ones we picked are not good on the certain day or whatever the case may be. Thanks again

Memorial Day Weekend '09 me and 2 friends go to Vegas for UFC '98. After the fight we head back to the Wynn (we're staying at Encore) mess around a bit at the Wynn. Then decide to go back to our room, regroup and figure out what we are going to do that night. As soon as we get near the poker room we see a line, 4 deep, I'm thinking it's for the theater right there. It keeps going and going, we make it to XS (it was new and I'd never heard of it). the line goes past the entrance wraps around. I stop and say boys this is where we're going tonight. Saw a bouncer(?) and said "do you think me and my 2 buddies can get in and tried to give him a $100. He said hold on. We waited a min and he came back open the rope up, gave him the money and we were in. It was crazy. Shawne Merriman was celebrating his birthday that night, met him, Vernon Davis, and Andre Johnson.

    TL:dR yes 2 guys shouldn't have a problem getting in. Where there's a will, theres a way.

Definitely buy pre sale tix and you want to get there early. We get there by 11P for clubs and noon latest to the pools. Pre sale doesn't go with the guy/girl ratio so you'll have no prob with 2 guys as long as you purchase them. Nightclubs around 1 AM they come on. Pools I've seen different times and honestly never paid attention to when they arrive.

Schedule wise I would go the following trying to max locations with dj's I like. Tiesto draws a sausage fest IMO based on the pics I saw from his last appearance at Hak on another site and from a post last year on here plus not a fan.

Light everyone raves about so you may want to just hit there and drop Morgan Page on Friday. Encore Beach I like better than Marquee due to layout and service just from my experiences but still would go to with Kaskade playing.

      Hardwell Thurs night at Hak
Liquid Pool Friday at Aria or just chill and get adjusted and recover from a potential crazy first night
Morgan Page at Surrender Friday night
      Avicii Saturday pool Encore
Drais Saturday night as it will not have been open for even a month yet
      Kaskade Sunday Marquee
      Daylight Sunday night
      Calvin Monday at Wet

It's a heavy schedule so pace yourself, keep yourself hydrated big time. Our group goes low key at the pools with minimal drinking so we can try to knock out our schedule when we go and enjoy the clubs.

You have tons of options so enjoy and I hope this helps.

Much appreciated info! I have some follow-up questions

Would $50 be enough to by-pass the line for two well-dressed men? Thanks for the advice!

Why have you picked Hardwell at Hakk over Avicii at EX? Is it due to the venue being better Thursdays nights or you just prefer Hardwell over Avicii?

Why Daylight Sunday night? Any particular reason why or is that venue just always good on Sundays nights?

I like Kaskade so I will avoid the sausage feast at Tiesto. Thanks for the advice!

You're weekend coincides with the EDC weekend. This means you're going one of the Top 3 busiest weekends in Vegas. Looks like you've done a lot of homework and put a lot of thought into your schedule - it looks good. Personally, I would switch out one of the pool days for Kaskade but that's just me. Other than that, make sure to buy those pre-sales! You're already late to the game if you haven't done so already. Especially for the pool parties! Pool party prices for most events have already rose substantially due it being the preferred daytime activity before heading out to EDC. Nightclubs will be busy as always but making sure you have those pre-sales beforehand will save you a lot of time and effort!

$50 per person would be more adequate for the Tier 1 Nightclubs. Tier 1 pool parties that weekend you're looking at double that.

            Thanks for the info. ENC012E!

I had no idea it was EDC weekend. It looks like EDC tickets are sold out. Does this mean the nightclubs will be less of a party because everyone will be at EDC? Should we switch weekends? We bought using a special visa so I'm able to reschedule my flight + hotel.

I think EDC weekend is one of the best weekends of the year
              great lineups
here are the announced lineups so far
              http://forums.jackcolton.com/showthr...ounced-lineups

presale tickets is best way to go

That said figure one pool in the afternoon and one nightclub
pools open around 11am headline djs on around 3pm
nightclubs open around 11pm headline djs on around 1am

While edc is sold out- if you want to experience cheapest way would be find someone in vegas selling a sunday ticket
3 day passes were around $300-$400 but are now going for $500+
you might be able to buy just sunday for $100

Did anyone go to the nightclubs during any previous EDC weekends? How were the nightclubs?

Everything is going to be packed. I would buy your pre-sale tickets asap as prices only will continue to go up. You can't go wrong with Hakkasan, Light, XS for the top tier nightclubs. For the big dayclubs check out Encore Beach, Daylight, and Marquee.

I would also check out the lineups at some of the smaller clubs/pools that don't normally pull in big name DJs. You would be surprised what kind of lineups these places have during EDC week. Some of them to look at are Tao, Tao Beach, Liquid Pool, and Lavo

Personally I enjoy Hardwell better because it seems like my trips fell into place more when Avicii was in town and not Hardwell. You don't lose either way you go on that one. I try to mix it up and am really looking forward to Drais as I am liking the line up of dj's they have locked in.
