Is this how it works when booking through a host?

I've just booked a day bed at Tao through Ty Riley, is it normal that they just take your name and that's enough to confirm a booking??

Just checking as in London you always have to give some money to secure any kind of table in a bar!

Yep, thats how it works. Only times they'll ask for a credit card pre-auth is on big holiday weekends.
