  • Not a "pool party", really, but how is Planet Hollywood's pool scene?

Certainly seems very blah from an aesthetic standpoint; is the mood the same, too?

We're staying at MGM, so hard to beat their pool facility - Wet Republic or not - but found a pretty nice deal (I think?) of a cabana rental and a bottle of Sky for less than $200. Worth it or not?

This does not answer your question but . . . if you are looking for a pool other than MGM to chill, then book a daybed at the Boulevard pool at Cosmo. The pool is much livelier than MGM (smaller, by far, but no families and most if not all the people are there to have fun). If the Boulevard pool is not working out, you can walk upstairs (2 minute walk) to MDC and do general admission. You can (or at least used to be able to) gain admission to the Boulevard pool by booking a daybed. It won't be nearly as cheap as PH.

Great info, Big. I'll look into it. Sounds like more of what we are going for.

Adamk, are you talking about the groupon for PH's pool? Me & my friend were also thinking of it, just bc the price sounds good, but still, for just us 2 girls, it is kinda high, considering we MIGHT finish 1/4 of the bottle ! lol

          That's the one.

I'm sure with the five of us, we could polish it off no problem!

Here is the email address for the cabanas and day beds at the Boulevard pool.

In my opinion you don't need a cabana. There are cabanas at the pool level and cabanas on a second level that overlooks the pool. You definitely don't want a second level cabana because you are a walk up stairs from the pool. The day beds are basically two lounge chairs tied together with a large two person cushion on top. Not ideal for multiple dudes to lay on. But the day beds serve the purpose of a place to congregate, put your keys etc., sit and order food and drinks to. The day beds are right up on the edge of the pool and a row back from the pool. Try to get one on the edge of the pool. The day beds come with much lower food and beverage minimums and you will be right in the action. From mid afternoon Friday and all day Saturday the Boulevard pool will be packed. It is still 100 times better than MGM earlier on Friday. There is a second pool up a different stairway that is more chill. And MDC is up another stairway.

I actually did the Pleasure Pool at PH last year once on a Saturday after we woke up too late and too hungover to justify any real pool party. For sure it does not look like much, but they do have a DJ on Saturdays that played a good mix of Top40 and popular EDM and they did have a pretty big crowd for that little pool. I would probably classify the crowd as more beer bar than nightclub like at the major pool parties, but we had fun for a few hours. Actually were able to snag up a daybed without any drink minimum by just sitting our asses down as it was around 3:30 by the time we got there. Party was still going strong until about 6pm, comparable to other pool parties.

It’s bad I was unfortunate to attend last year. plus aesthetically it’s an old pool in need of restoration. Not saying you can’t have a good time just set your expectations low. We were comped a cabana from the front desk.

I honestly expected a lot more from PH regarding the pool scene. IMO, Its their biggest flaw. Just base on my personal experience, the crowd and pool was better at the Flamingo. But I rarely check out hotel pools, because Im a fan of the pool parties.

We did the pool at Monte Carlo last year, and it was "fine". DJ, lazy river, wave pool, beach volleyball. We did a cabana for $500 f&b and had a really decent time. We weren't looking for the big day club vibe as we had the "parents" with us...haha Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Actually, it only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.

A good friend would bail you out of jail, but your best friend would be the one sitting next to you saying, "damn that was awesome".

I live for the nights I can't remember with the people I'll never forget.

Sounds like a pretty miserable place.

I will cross it off the list.

                        Thanks, folks.

Too bad their pool sounds so crappy; heard nothing but good things about the PH property, otherwise.

Agreed, PH really needs to update their pool. Basically as you walk in to that massive concrete jungle (I feel so bad for everyone staying on that floor because of the heat coming in from the pool area) the pool on the left is the party pool where the DJ sets up and the pool on the right is more of the "hotel" pool with an older and relaxed group.

I am a huge fan of the pool parties and my friends were staying at PH so we decided to spend a day at their pool to not spend as much money and recharge. I was shocked that it turned pretty damn wild (it was the weekend before EDC last June 2013). There does not seem to be a minimum on any of the daybeds because we grabbed one and posted up. It is true that it is more of a beer bar scene as we bought buckets of beer for $30 I believe, which isn't that bad of a deal in Vegas I suppose? Once the afternoon wore on the 12 girls having a bachelorette party got wild and started dancing with my group and then we were splashing in the pool. My very attractive female friend got absolutely mouth raped by one of the girls in the party, it was quite entertaining.

Bottom line is the pools looks shitty but I have magically had a good experience there, so since it is free may as well swing by and check it out?
