The nice thing about MGM's cabanas is that, unlike all the other hotel pools that I'm aware of, pricing here is F&B minimum.
Attached are a few photos I took of their menu last year.

Forgot to ask but what taxes plus gratuity should I expect on top of the $400 min?

For anyone with experience, we have rented a cabana for this Sunday and was making sure that these Tv's had cable where we could watch the March Madness games?

It looks like 18% gratuity, 2% service charge, plus tax (I can only imagine it's the 8.1%).
Here is a screenshot of the email they sent me last summer.Cabana Pricing.JPG

What's the vibe / crowd like in this area? I'm guessing not the same as WR, but is it still a good time?

I've spent several weekends at MGM and rented cabanas at the pool. MGM is a huge hotel (7,000 rooms) so the pool will be crowded with all types of people. You will have families, old people, young people, single people, married people. It is not a complete pick up scene like Cosmo. But there will be plenty of ladies to chat up. You definitely want a cabana on the lazy river. (not cabanas 1 and 2, those are set too far back). And spend every single second of your time in or on the edge of the lazy river. Yes kids and old people will float by but so will all of the ladies that are interested in being chatted up. In short it is a good alternative to a pool party, not the best alternative, but good.

Any luck requesting a particular cabana?

It is first come, first serve. Get there at about 15 minutes before the cabana desk opens. Wait in line. Then tell them what cabana you want. The several times we have rented a cabana we were the only ones there early. If you are a high roller than your casino host can handle it for you.

anyone tried booking thru MLife and reserving a particular Cabana?

I have a Platinum card, MGM informed me Cabanas were already sold out for my requested date but they keep some aside for Casino Marketing and they should be able to give me one. Im just not sure if they actually reserve a particular spot or still first come first served.
