  • Pool parties: Day beds or entry only

    Hi,

I'm bring a 10-man bachelor party to one of the big pool parties on Sunday August 4th. What do you get for the admission price alone? Is it standing room only, with no proper seating without a day bed, cabana etc.?

In a nightclub, I know that the way to go is bottle service for the VIP entry, table etc and it doesn't cost much more overall. Is it a similar scenario during the day?

    Thanks

You wont get anything for standard entry. Some pools MIGHT have a few free chairs available very very early on in the day but for 10 people you wont be getting them. For 10 people you really need a cabana.

What marcus said... WET would probably be the only pool I'd try GA at with that big of a crowd. That said... look at the economics:

Cover for 10 guys @ ~$50ea = $500 (and you're waiting in line in the 115 degree vegas heat)
      7 drinks each for 10 guys @ $20ea = $1400
      2 waters each for 10 guys @ $8ea = $160
      1 sandwich each for 10 guys @ $20ea = $200
2 drinks each for 10 girls @ $20ea = $400 (assuming you each buy 2 drinks for ladies)

If you've got a group of guys who are already in the hole for $2660 and you've not even really drank that much....and been standing in no man's land the whole time. Cabana will run you a min spend of $2500-4000 depending on where you want to go and on what day. For sunday you should be able to score a cabana at a pool not named MBC for the lower end of that spectrum. No brainer IMO.

        Great stuff, thanks.

So it sounds like the economics are the same as nightclubs; the overall cost is similar, and you get a much better service.

          Exactly right...

Your issue is the number. You will need big cabanas to fit 10 guys. I dont think youll pull that off with $2500.

For example EBC youll need either an upper or lower cabana to fit your group, that'll be $4000 minimum I imagine. Marquee Day Club on Sunday 4th will be even more as Kaskade's a big draw.

You might get a cabana at Wet, but I wouldnt ever get a cabana at Wet cos of the layout, so it leaves you Daylight... You should be able to get something on Daylight sunday. That'll be hip hop heavy cos of the open format if that annoys you.

Yeah, Hip Hop is a no-go for us.

What don't you like about the layout at Wet?

            Thanks

Its design suits GA customers as opposed to cabana customers. The fun is in and around the pool and even at the bar. Cabanas just seem out of the loop. Any other pool party id get a cabana, but certainly not at Wet Republic.

Dont discount open format places, they're often brilliant. But if you are massively anti hip-hop then your only real options are EBC, Marquee Day Club and Wet on the Sunday.

Personally, if I were you i'd up the budget. If you want cabana's you aint gonna get much, if any change from $500 each with a big party like you have. Its just the way it is...

Yep. Possibly a Party cabana at wet is closer to the action but they're smaller and not as nice as the primary cabanas.

IF your group is good at fishing out ladies and entertaining them back at your cabana with charm and beverages then you're all good... but it definitely looks (at wet) like you're sorta off on an island with the cabanas. If you've got a bug budget and don't mind the risk of getting used by bottle rats, it's not much of a concern. Just depends on how you're planning on working it.

Maybe general admission at Wet is back on the table...

If you're serious about WET, Honestly one thought is to get a daybed with poolside (with 6 of your guys names on it for free entry) and then have the other 4 get presales. Set up camp and party in the pool next to the daybed, and on the daybed (somewhere to sit when you're not in the pool, somewhere to order drinks, base of operations, etc). Daybeds have pretty low mins (750-2000+tax/tips at wet depending on day and who's spinning).

The catch is drawing straws to see who gets in VIP and who waits in the presale line (which isn't bad). Build the price of presales into the all in price then divide by 10. Done and done.
