  • Renting a Daybed etc etc.. Is it worth it?

I'm planning a trip to LV for the first time with a group of 5 girls 3 guys for next year. I have to plan early and already start saving because well we almost all don't make like amazing money, but we are going to be celebrating the last person to turn 21 in our group of friends.

I want to know if spending 3000 dollars(not including tip, tax and other fees too!) on a daybed/cabana really at a pool party really worth it?

To me spending 375 dollars a person is really expensive and if for example we went to Wet Republic where drinks are about 16 dollars a piece I would have to drink 24 to at least cover my 275 dollars.(I'm basing it off of this years prices so for all I know it might be higher when we go)

Do you really not have somewhere to sit at all if you don't rent one?

It's always worth it if you can afford it. But, it's more important to have table service at a club than a pool - so if you have to choose between the two, save up for the club.

You are forgetting to add in cover charge which can be $30-50 for guys. And from what I hear there are no free guestlists for EBC at the moment either - so that's more $$$.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

3k minimum for a daybed seems a little high to me?? I thought it was closer to the 1.5k minimum.

          2013 Pricing for Wet Republic:

          Friday (Hot 100)
          Day Bed (6) 750.00

          Saturday (Non Event)
          Day Bed (6) 1,500

          Saturday (Event)
          Day Bed (6) 2,000
Now, you're looking at another 30% or so on top of that in taxes, tips and gratuity (18%)... so a 1500 daybed on a non-event saturday will be close to $2000 all in. That's $250/person for 8 people. The 3 guys will be paying $150 in entry fees so factor that in (as stated above).

For 1500 you're looking at likely 3 bottles plus some food/waters/etc. 3 bottles is about 60 drinks of booze.
          60 Drinks * $18ea (don't forget to tip) = ~$1100 + ~100 in food/water/etc = ~$1200
COVER: $50 guys... $30 girls = $300 in presales to ensure entry.
So now you're at ~$1600 in value for essentially a $2000 bed.

SO... you're essentially asking if it's worth it to pay $50 a person to skip all lines, get walked right in to a private bed where you can lie/sit/relax... put your stuff down without fear of it getting stolen/trashed. You're not having to fight bar lines to get each drink... the server comes to you and you've got your own bottles/mixers. YOu can skip bathroom lines with a tip to your security...bring girls/guys from the pool back to your bed to hang...etc.

To me, for something like this that you're not doign everyday... that's an easy decision to drop that extra $50-75. For you guys, that's up to you to decide.

IF money is a concern then you could maybe go Friday on a Hot100 day for a slightly more chill (but still good) party and have a lower minimum. Your call really.

I did have a related question, based on the person maximum. So, a daybed has a reservation max of 6, if I were to have 8 what would happen? The same for other spots with higher/lower max's.

I would assume they would have to pay the cover, but would they be able to enter at the same time? Would tipping the host well get them in at the same time? Also, would they be able to come hang out and drink/eat towards the minimum? I just wouldn't want to tell the extra 2 there are SOL, just curious.

I know that at nightclubs they at least allow it (even if they don't desire it) as long as the extra's pay the cover and you get their early enough.
If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it! That being said, it's Vegas and doesn't hurt to try!

            Planning
            2014 - March 13-16 - Bachelor Party
            2014 - June 5th - 9th (maybe) - Big 30.

From what I understand (and this is a guesstimate based on reading/experience):

If your group is all guys it will take a strong host handshake to make it work.

In the OP's case... with 5 girls and 3 guys... if the girls are attractive/fun and the guys aren't total dipshits then the host is more likely to let the 6max on the bed slide a bit because the party is mostly women. I would still sweeten the handshake a bit though just in case.

I could be wrong and am not speaking for any hosts at all... but that is what I THINK to be the case in stuff like this.

Hey I can hope that will happen. Thankfully the 3 guys aren't dipshits. One has money, but isn't the real friend of the group, maybe that will change in time.
That is why we were going to need a bigger selection than just a daybed because of the maximum 6 people.

To the person that said go on a Friday..(now this is going to be in 2 years and 2 months almost.. I got her bday wrong haha.. which I know far in advance to plan but we all want this to happen, but some of us are minimum wage earners so we HAVE to save) ... anyways.. her birthday is the Saturday. We are going to do Friday-Tuesday. but obviously she isn't going to be able to get in anywhere that Friday, just dinner.

If that's the case you might want to plan one blowout night or day. You can save a TON of money in two years if you are don't dip into those funds even at minimum wage. Just saving change for two years will yield a shocking amount of money. Jack is planning on expanding the Invasions in the future so you might be able to do this trip for much less than you expect.

To answer your original question, yes table service is worth the money especially on a Saturday in Vegas.
